Well, being a vigilante is against the law, so yeah.
I don't get this law... at all.

"Oh you want to help clean up the streets and stop crime but don't have the grades to be a policeman? Well -blam!- YOU."

Well...yeah. Police officers carry a significant amount of responsibility that requires training and organization; vigilantism defies that and assumes that a single untrained person can do more good than a person that is armed, has backup, a bullet-resistant and chase-oriented vehicle, and a centralized hub of information for tracking and profiling criminals.
What surprises me is that being a bounty hunter in the US is legal. Here (the UK) you'll go to gaol is you make a citizens arrest (holding someone there against their will = kidnap) and they aren't really trained to do it as well as officers, either.

Maybe 1 swing or hit him until he fell. But hit him when he is on the ground? Just no...

Sometimes I am tempted to quit gaming. I can no longer play without seeing ponyphags, horrendously bad teammates and mexicans.

Gaming community, I want you to know that you suck.

Very old but hilarious

Where did it say he got jail time?

And this isn't vigilantism. He was stopping a crime while it was being committed, not administering justice after the fact.

I would be surprised if this makes it to court. He was acting to save the other young man, who was clearly being beaten. He acted using a reasonable amount of force, actually less than what a peace officer would have used (personally I would have loved to watch that bully writhe in pain with 20,000 volts from a cops taser).

Please link us the rest of the article, I would like to know more.

So this guy just so happens to walk around in costume with a bat?

Nice one. I don't know why, but I'm pretty sure I laughed harder at this post than any other I've seen.

He won't be convicted. This has happened to me countless times. You're only arrested and taken in for questioning. If it's clear that you were acting in the defense of self or another than you'll be fine.

so you like to walk around in a cape hitting people with baseball bats?

He wasn't doing anything wrong either.

He beat a kid with a bat. You don't see anything wrong with that?He could have simply pulled him off of him, but instead he hit him in the back with a bat. That's assault.

No he was stopping a crime in progress and saving the other boy. That isn't a crime.

Seeing as how he used a bat, I can see why he got jail time.

It's assault. Which is a crime. You can't solve a crime with a crime.

Actually you are incorrect. You can use violence to stop a crime. He didn't take it too far. He hit the bully enough times to let the other boy escape. and then he ran off.

If he stopped and bashed the bully's brains in, then yes, that is assault. But he didn't. Believe it or not, people used to be required to step in if they witnessed this sort of thing. That isn't the case anymore, but he didn't commit a crime.

In some countries there are laws that state that if you do not help the victim you are guilty of being an accomplice, whether or not you were.
