Seriously, It look like it had been duck taped on and was about to fall off there bodies, i would be glad if the CEA version looked more like the army troopers from reach

Personally I thought it looked ok.

I thought it looked okay to be honest. However, i did not like the way they took one hit and could no longer fire. This made them useless at times, especially later on compared to Halo 2, 3, ODST, Reach.

I prefer the CE armour. Metal plates are going to do a helluva lot more than whatever else they're using later.

Nah. I like my stylized metal-plate-toting epic marines of epicness. None of this realistic crap; the old approach is consistant with the style of the game, and is far more awesome.

Metal Plate<Standard Modern Kevlar<Futuristic Improved Kevlar, therefore, I highly disagree.

I always wondered why such futuristic soldiers were running around with armor that could have been made (Not as well, mind you) in Medieval times...

You do realize that both materials would have been researched and improved, right?

Because it's more epic.

On a more serious note, there actually is some swing room; kevlar is not, strictly speaking, "better" than metal armour. They function in totally different ways. In a classic comparison, for instance, kevlar is a soft material that deccelerates projectiles, while a hard metal surface can sometimes deflect the projectile and skirt the issue altogether. Granted, for modern protection, the light weight and ease of use of kevlar makes it great for small-arms protection, while ceramic plates and other neato stuff is commonly used for rifle protection.

But, those considerations are only relevant for simple projectiles. Without knowing exactly how Covenant "plasma" weapons function, it's hard to say what would or wouldn't make effective armour against them; there are, for instance, armours that work great against rifle ammunition but horrible against knives, and vise versa. Depending on how that PR functions, it may very well eat right through kevlar but be somewhat resisted by metal plate.

l;abhrfiodj!!

I would think kevlar would just burst into fames when hit with plasma

  • 08.20.2011 4:28 PM PDT

so metal would melt. having melted metal driping on your body wouldnt be too fun

  • 08.20.2011 6:26 PM PDT

Better than being on fire, and besides maybe the metal has a high enough melting point. If you wear something under the metal that does not conduct well then the blast would heat up the armor and then dissipate the heat into the air. Of course with enough blasts the metal would melt and you would then be screwed.

Actually the best type of armor for plasma would probably be styrofoam like. You know like the tiles on the space shuttles.

And with a post like that, you give away that you're young, and that you never played Halo back when it originally came out (probably due to the fact you were learning to walk, I'd guess).

i was seven when it released... but i guess your too ignorant to realise that.

you and a LOT of other people on this site just have the simple motto of " HALO CE IS THE BEST GAME EVER NOBODY CAN PROVE ME OTHERWISE, ITS AMAZING AND ANYONE ELSE WHO THINKS DIFFERENT TO THIS IS A YOUNG IDIOT WHO DOESNT KNOW WHAT HES TALKING ABOUT!! AND ALL THE SEQUELS ARE TERRIBLE EVEN THOUGH WE KEEP PLAYING THEM HURR DURR "

Nice copy and paste.

do you know what i do when i play ? I SHUT UP AND PLAY THE GAME ! i dont care about what their armor look like. i will not spend my game time by checking their armor, I TRY TO KILL AND SURVIVE !!! not caring about their armors !!!

I always thought the duct tape, boxy, angular, armor worn by the Marines had something to do with improvisation to defeat a new weapon(plasma). The fastest way to get new tech to the front lines is creating the technology and theh letting the front lines figure out how best to utilize in the field. Later variants would actually be more fitted when time was not as critical.
Kevlar is a wonder material, but is not the end all to armor discussion. It does allow kinetic energy to be transmitted to the wearer. Transmit enough energy to the target and you can easily kill someone with blunt trauma without ever breaking the skin.

I prefer the CE armor. Especially with their green scouters. I was so excited to see them back in Reach.
