Halo 1 & 2 for PC

Subject: A quick Youtube question..

I understand this may not entirely be related to Halo and wasn't sure whether or not to post here or the Flood but the community here is more helpful but anyways, here goes.

I've been intending to upload a couple of Halo PC gameplay video's (nothing special, not a montage or skill vid etc) to Youtube but recently my video's don't fill the entire Youtube box and there is a black border all the way around the video. Now some of my older video's don't have this issue and appear as they should but i was hoping someone would know how to fix this and make PC footage actually fill the entire Youtube video box?

Im not on about full screen either, but the actual video itself. Anyways, thanks for any replies and sorry if this is the wrong forum and what not.

Something smells fishy...

I'm not sure what the problem might be. Sorry. But I can guess.

What are you using to record the video? Just guessing but it could be that the recording program is not recording full screen.

Also, maybe you could increase the size of the video by using a video editor or converter (a converter that can change video sizes that is).

Make sure you're recording in a resolution supported by YouTube and make sure you're rendering it correctly in the same resolution. That's all I can think of. What's your YouTube account, by the way? I did a few gameplays on my channel as well. :P

I wasn't sure to post a link but i'll link to two of my video's (one with the problem, the other where it doesn't so hopefully you all may help!) Here's the one WITHOUT the issue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nqo4J2Rf52k

And here's the one's (and all that have followed) WITH the issue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hucRs7arHdY
The one with the issue is sort of in a black box if that makes sense where as the Co op mod one isn't.

Im recording with FRAPS at 1920x1080 60fps at half size, then saving the video's in HD in Windows Movie Maker. I have no idea what the issue is and don't want to risk uploading anymore gameplay video's of Halo PC if this issue persists. My gaming Youtube account is SN1P3ROne (whilst my other one for guitar covers, skateboarding and freerunning isn't public yet).

Thanks for the help guys

I think the problem is half-size, you need to change it back to full size. (I know, video separation is a -blam!- but I think that's the problem)

On a side note, that makes me want to play BF2 really bad.... If only I weren't too lazy to put that disc in... xD

Okay thanks, going to have to give that a shot. It's silly really considering that the video at half size is still a higher resolution than 480p in itself. But anyways, thanks for the help, looks like i'll need a faster processor to maintain the high framerate with FRAPS. Thanks again.

Oh and BF2 with 1.5 doesn't need a disc ;)

  • 08.19.2011 8:32 AM PDT

Oh and sorry to bump, i found the issue, Movie Maker kept reverting the video to 4:3 aspect ratio whereas it should be 16:9. How could i overlook this? Anyways thanks again everyone.

Indeed! Although the patch is pretty large, it contains all the booster packs for free as well as the no CD in tray fix. The downside? It's 2GB in size...

No worries man, that game was a masterpiece save for the jet dominance and dolphin diving, most of which is fixed in that patch. And thanks for your help earlier too.

Ha, I've never really played Battlefield being a Delta Force man myself. I've had good times at friends houses though.

Delta Force? Black Hawk Down? Yeah, if you do try to get into Battlefield, ignore Bad Company, it works great on consoles, but on the PC it's sub par to the likes of BF2, BF2142 and BF1942. I'd recommend BF2 personally since the sequel BF3 is coming out soon, which could be okay.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

LOL? BC2 is significantly better on the PC than consoles.

Sorry DusK, that's not what i meant. I was trying to say BC2 is a good BF game on consoles, but if you want an even better BF game, then BF2 and the older one's are the way to go on PC. I agree with you that BC2 is better on PC, it's just not the best BF game on PC, at least in my opinion.

Well like I said, I'm more of a Delta Force person myself. But I've got some money which wants to be spent. Which Battlefield would be best for a beginner like me?

I have BF Vietnam. It's not that great.

I agree. Personally, i recommend BF2/BF2142 for 64 player wide open battles, or BFBC2 which is the most recent one with destructible environments which is a more infantry focused game with no jets and only 32 players.

  • 08.21.2011 6:34 AM PDT

Yeah, I was always told BF2 was the way to go.
