You get more lag as new bugs keep apearing and old ones reapearing which wont get fix till the next 2 or so updates.

You're pretty close this time, Recon. We're in the middle of a bunch of low level changes. Coming soon - .NET 2.0. Currently, though, we just added a new type of load balancer that is MUCH better than the old way. However, it is also more complicated to configure, and it is probably going to be a bit before the site goes back to the synchronous state it was in before. The quick fix is to turn affinity on, but that defeats the point of load balancing, thus we're leaving things as is while I work on making our Data Cache "load balancer aware".

Well I have been experiencing some weird stuff lately...like parts of the site being positioned at the top instead of the bottom where they used to be. Like the scrolling banner at the bottom. I have some screen shots, I just can't upload them right now.

Your issue is caused by your browser failing to load the .css correctly. I don't know what browser you are using but sometimes browsers will read a .css wrong and load the stuff in funny ways. Depending on which browser you are using, it might not support some of the commands in a java script .css. So, if you are switching between the browsers you use, it might load correctly on one, but not on another.

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

That is a seperate issue that we are currently in the process of tracking down and solving. Occassionally, it appears as if the CSS files are occassionally failing to be sent to your browser, and that messed up screen is the browser doing the best it can.

As for adding .NET 2.0... yes, some things will be different, but most of it is an under the hood change. Most things that it allows me to do you won't notice until much later. One big change coming is that Javascript will become required for this site. Don't worry, it is cross platform Javascript, but you won't be able to use this site well with Javascript turned off in your browser.

not to go off on another tangent or anything, but i've noticed a massive difference in loading times for a page depending on whether or not im the administrator of the group.

clicking "Forum" or "Add/Deny Member" on my group takes a solid ten seconds to load the page or to make the change take effect. most other groups i visit take a second or so, if that.

is this normal? is it just a little more info to load, or does my computer just hate me in general?

Platform wars, browser wars, toothpaste wars.... are for people who want to feel better about their own personal choice by degrading others who have made an alternate decision.

Its all part of the competition war. If we didn't have that, then alot of the products today wouldn't be available. Hell, here's a great example: firefox. It was only made because IE hadn't been updated in like 5 years because the program was initially made 'too good', as microsoft spokespeople have said.

So yes, calling a program 'evil' is probably pushing it, the wars are a plus. Unless the program steals your soul, then its evil. Doesn't your sword to that, btw?

And toothpaste wars? Colgate all the way!

How about this, IE isn't evil, but it's full of holes and dangerous.

Anything that lets something called the "XXX Toolbar" to instal itself is Evil.

And this was with a firewall up. Grrrrr....

And FireFox is safer when using Java too, and runs it better.

If its not your browser causing the laggyness, consider getting more RAM.
