In the beginning, halo was going to be a horrible-looking computer game, and would of failed miserably. So, they sold the IP to Microsoft, and were hired to create the game, and the next one, and the next one. Soon enough, however, some problems occured, and bungie and microsoft split. Bungie was aloud to finish up on ODST and Halo:Reach, but after that, no more making halo games. Instead, a new company was created from previous bungie employees that agreed to Microsoft's demands, which are now working on the new halo. So, does that answer your question?
IGNITION246, what you've just posted is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Someone award Urk a medal for epic winning.
OK, first off...
1) Horrible looking? Dude, that was back in 2001. What were you expecting?
2) If it was going to sell horribly, it would probably just be because it was going to be on the Mac, not because it sucked. Bungie's made great, if underrated, games, and I think that their RTS Halo would have done pretty well.
3) Yes, problems occurred. It's called BUNGIE DIDN'T WANT TO KEEP MAKING HALO. Seriously, I think a lot of people are missing the point that...
3a) The reason Master Chief weren't in subsequent Halo titles aside from cameos is that his story arc is done. Finished. Ended. Halo 3 is to the Halo series what Deathly Hallows was to the Harry Potter series. It leaves things wrapped up, with some ambiguity to leave people speculating, but otherwise leaves no room for a sequel. Bungie put his story to rest, which is why the other Halo titles didn't include him.
4) 343i is made up of former Bungie employees and other people who wanted to continue making Halo. The majority of Bungie wanted to make something else, which is why Bungie is Bungie and 343i is 343i.
And I still don't understand what people have against the Halo titles after 3. imo, I agree that ODST was overpriced for what was a small Campaign expansion and Firefight, but at $30 it's a good enough buy. Reach was also very good, and while I do agree that there are a lot of plot canyons in it, especially regarding some things in the Halo novels and whatnot, it's still a solid game (Bloom is not that bad).
