Straight from the wandering mind of Watson 203
Every time somebody adds the "'ee" suffix onto the end of a Sangheili name, E.g. "Thel Vadam'ee, they're stating that they would be a Sangheili during the time before The Great Schism.
The "'ee" suffix on any Sangheili name means that the Elite has obtained a certain rank or gained that honorary title, although I forget exactly what/which one it is.
For example, the Arbiter during the time of Halo 2 and 3 would have been called Thel Vadam'ee during Halo 2, but after/during The Great Schism during the end of Halo 2 and throughout Halo 3, he became Thel Vadam.
The Sangheili removed the suffix's because they wanted to sever every possible link with the Covenant and the lies they had commited under the guise of the Prophets so called Great Journey.
If anybody was wondering then why the Arbiter remained as the Arbiter, I would probably hazard a guess at him still feeling shameful of losing the Halo ring, Instalation 04, to the Master Chief, thus suggesting he failed in combat. He is also looked up to by other Sangheili and is a symbol of what they believe in, he is keeping their morale up by retaining his image as what it is.
These however are just my thoughts though, not necessarily official canon.
