Subject: Bungie.net Community

Key

I was just wondering, can anyone think of any other game developer (barring MAYBE 343i but I can't even begin to think how wrong that argument would be) that has a community that is as interconnected and active or has employees and moderators as involved in the community as Bungie has?

I was thinking and, despite the bad reputation that some of the forums on here can get *cough* Reach Forums and Flood *cough*, it really is an extremely interconnected and tight knit community that is, for the majority of its members, very welcoming to new members and equally as familiar with old ones.

Just a thought I had. I'm not a part of a forum for any other gaming developer so I just honestly didn't know if there was a developer that exceeded the standard set by Bungie in either respect mentioned above.

And, as always, please discuss kindly.

Hello! You may also know me as Ijnekono. How you have made your way here I do not know, but welcome. (:

This is my first forum and I love it. Very welcoming to newcomers and nice people too. Despite having few interactions with other sites, I firmly believe B.net must have one of the best UI's and Communities out there. Stick with them.

That's all I have to say about that.

Bungie is just spinning us in their web so they can eat us later.

You've only been here for a year. I know a couple other tight-knit communities.

So I've only been here a year.... what does that have to do with anything?

  • 08.20.2011 11:22 PM PDT

I don't know, I haven't been to any other sites. I've stuck with bungie as they have a nice easy layout in threi forums whereas other sites are just a mess.

Oh... what? I think enough people have at least seen me... And because you don't know who I am doesn't mean everyone doesn't know who I am. And I don't have to be a SonicJohn or a tsujen or a freakin' MURDUR to say I love this community. Anyone can.

Anyway, is my opinion irrelevant because I don't have a different colored title bar? I could be here a week and "luv the community!!11!". That doesn't make sense.

When did I mention title bars? Are you looking for some Fisticuffs?

Well you insinuated that i had no business making a thread like this because I'm not an established community member. And if I was I would PROBABLY have been here a long time, hence have a special title bar. I don't want to derail this thread but I find your claim completely unfounded in reality and confusing.

As opposed to being unfounded out of reality?

On topic... no.

I founded my claim on the fact that this thread sucks. It's just another "omg I luv the community!!11!" thread in a cry to get attention (which I can see you love already, which is why I referred you as the next spartain ken earlier on).

Well it all depends on who you talk to, really.

Some may argue that the Epic Forums are among the best, or that the Battle.net is the best.

Personally? I think it was Bungie that started the trend of really connecting with your fanbase, with the Myth series. Talking directly to the customers through mailing lists and genuinely being interested in their feedback. It's a trend that they set early on with the internet and kept it going very strongly. It's inspiring, and it's evidently successful. Bungie.net is the prime example of a company that lives and breathes on its fans, and it's something that should never be forgotten; especially when ignorant and upset gamers claim that Bungie never listens (always a forum-favourite).

Bungie.net, whether or not you think it still is good now, did it first, but more importantly, they did it right first.

O_O I am in no way spartain ken...

I'm not making an "I luv bungie!!1!" thread. I'm making a thread about the discussion of this community in comparison to other communities founded by gaming development company on the basis of developer interaction with community and community interaction with each other.

I'm praising Bungie because its the only opinion I can have considering I have been to VERY few other developer's websites and was not there long. This thread is meant to promote discussion, not to implore people to praise Bungie aimlessly. If anyone does that they miss the point of the thread and should rethink it.

If you weren't busy being a pompous ass and thought about it for more than a minute or two, you might actually read the thread and not just read the parts where I praise Bungie.

I read your thread but I found it boring and wasn't sure what to discuss. I'm still not sure what to discuss.

Thanks. I guess I know his motives but his means are still annoying. As troll do, but still. I don't want to be compared to people who make "I love Bungie" threads.

Hey, I dropped Whisper in another thread the other day when someone was asking if there were flash games on BNet. Thats 5 dollars pl0x.

Five years older and wiser
The fires are burning, I'm fire, never tire
Slay warriors in the forests, and on hire

Blizzard have the greatest gaming community and interaction between community and developers. Mostly because their games are PC based and allow for content to be changed on the fly.

So currently Blizzard dumps on Bungie. But I guess that gives Bungie a goal for their next game.

Dianna Agron is the epitome of perfection.

Quinntology.

Blizzard and Bioware are both fairly good. As is Epic Games. But honestly, the award for Community itself (not company interaction with said community) would be Bungie.net.
