Subject: Will Bungie ever put in a user counter in the forums?

Stop banning me please.

I would like to see how many people are on a certain forum at different parts of the day. Wouldn't you?

Right now I swear only 5 people are in Off Topic but I dont know for sure

cars, girls & cake all day everyday

Does it matter?

Stop banning me please.

No but they should still do it

  • 08.21.2011 2:32 AM PDT

Thus I refute thee

I know what your getting at but it would be pointless to be fair

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

It would be interesting, but it's not necessary.

Love you Damon Albarn, Bungie FTW
The Satanic Church is where i belong

Somebody should try and make a greasemonkey script, if that's possible...

I was a finalist :P

I want her...

It would promote spamming

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

The webteam wouldn't want to waste their time making something not important to the website when they could be making something that is. I like the idea, but that's just the truth.

"I don't care if it's God's own anti-Son of a -blam!- Machine or a giant hula-hoop!"

Will they ever? Probably not. To me, for some reason, it just seems, 'less professional'.

This is the image it gives off to me, "Hey come over here! You can tell we're popular because we have 'x' amount of users online."

Those counters are usually for the smaller websites, that need to compensate for lack of activity to show that people are actually viewing the forum. Here, there are always people watching, waiting.

It wouldn't be necessary at all. It'd be cool, but it wouldn't really make since to be there.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

It'd be cool to have it on the front page, but it would be something extra.

I guess it could you follow where there is most activity

Bungie.Match.com: Our Johnson knows what the ladies like.

That would annoy me honestly.

Most people here seem to be against it, but I wouldn't bet against it. A lot of people on here had the same arguments against adding member titles.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

The question is, what constitutes "in the forum"?

Having an open page? Posting withing the past X minutes?

The forums are a server-client relationship and the server isn't requesting anything from the clients. So all that the server "knows" (the information it has to work with) is what each client did last and asked to be sent to their browser.

I really don't want B.net to turn into the Shadow of Facebook...

Sideways in my butt is not "where it's at".
Wtf is a floodian? Is that special for fgt?

It's fun, but it's freaking weird when your in a room where you got 15 people smoking different stuff and your trying to go to sleep with hallucinogenic birds crapping on you.

I don't know, that doesn't seem like it would have a bungie feel. Through all the minor little changes here and there, bungie has always stayed more or less the same when it comes to the website.

I like the feel the site has, and that seemingly little thing would change the image and feel of the site a lot more than you think.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

I'd rather there was a "What User's Mothers are Wearing" counter than anything else.

WUMaW needs to be implemented before 2012 Bungie. I suggest you get on it now.

Also, hi Cena! I guess I can kinda understand why you'd want a user counter.

Yes, having the page open is what I was thinking and I don't know why Bungie wouldn't put it in.

BTW I am not John Cena
