In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I was scrolling through Top forum topics in the Flood and I found this.

Link

The OP is banned and absent for a long time.

What happens in this situation?

Should the OPs of banned users in Top forum topic be removed in a normal ban?

Or when a user is banned for a long time/forever with a pined topic, should that Top forum topic be removed?

What do you think?

This is ancient. And the OP was quoted, I believe, so all that information is preserved. Plus, there is still discussion value.
And Spiker Prodigy was perma banned long ago.

Top forum topic =/= Pinned topic

Thought I should point that out.

Well it is still a Top forum topic but no one can read the OP and the OP is banned/hasn't posted for over a year so that makes me think the ban is a perma ban.

But, if it is pinned and the OP is banned for a long time, should the pinned topic's OP remain or should the mods remove it from pinned status?

I updated my last post with more information.

Updated.

It doesn't have really ANY discussional value if I can't read the OP and understand what everyone is talking about.

But seriously, if the OP is banned, the original OP should remain in tact.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

What are you asking? That it be removed from the TFT list?

I am saying, that when a Topic is on the Top forum topics and the OP is banned like that, shouldn't their OP remain?

I mean, Top forum Topics are displayed 24/7.

Or, if that doesn't change, why should a banned OP be in the top forum topics if other users don't know what the original post was.

Key

They shouldn't have any of their posts remain because they are currently not allowed in the forums for discussion and so all previous discussions and posts made by them should be disallowed aswell.

Just because the OP was banned doesn't mean the topic should be locked. The topic was most likely not the reason for the user's ban and so the topic should continue to be present so the conversation can continue as it did when it was made.

Why punish the people discussing the threads OP within the thread by locking it simply because the user was banned for an irrelevant topic?

Yeah, I have been saying for pinned topic either preserve the OP (even with a ban) or lock the post.

It doesn't matter if that is what OP was/wasn't banned for, if you can't read the OP, it is hard to understand the thread.

I would prefer if the OP wasn't removed for banned users in pinned topics, so that way the thread can stay.

You appear to be missing the point.

TFT's are not pinned. There is no moderator action that puts them on or removes them from that listing.

It is you and your fellow members who "decide" what is in the TFT listing. By saving threads and keeping it active, that is what placed ANY topic there. It doesn't matter if the OP is banned, the topic is locked, if enough people have it saved.... it is there. Welcome to a democratic element of this site. Your fellow members have spoken.

Vox Populi.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Imagine if the system was setup so when a member is banned only the post that they were banned for is hidden. Now imaging all of those accounts going around doing nothing but spamming shock links. Do you want only the one post they were banned for to be hidden or would you like all of them gone?

Don't think it is gonna happen. If the OP was quoted then you should be able to folow along and participate.

Whoo.

Well most forum topics have like twenty pages, assuming a scenario where the OP isn't quoted you have all those to shift through and if you still can't figure out what everyone's talking about then the OP most probably won't clear the situation up for you any more than it has already been.

Someone should just edit a quote of the OP into the first reply of the thread.

Yes, there're too many numbers in my name.

If you look at the very first threads of the Flood and B.net Community forums, you'll see they're still there.

So I guess that answers your question.
