I remember the first time i became a level 37 in halo 2. I dreamed about it more than sex. I also remember when i was one game away from a 43 before the final stats reset, i wanted to cry. Haha man i was such a level-loving matchmaking noob.

In CMP I remember the first time I turned around on QZ (at the start) and saw the cave. I decided to go see what was in there and my gaming life has never been the same.

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

I'm just gonna take that comment as sarcastic.

Halo 2's ranking system was addicting, especially in the golden days. I remember when like a 24 was straight up beast lol, but then the reset made it easier to rank up.

What I thought made the leveling-up even more fun was the fact that you could see your "level progression bar" on Bungie.net. You knew how close you were to losing or gaining a rank. Another fun part was that the ranks had flavor such as the shapes and colors that represented your level.

Despite the boosting and cheating some players did to achieve those symbol ranks, you knew at least 3/4 of them were not legit.

Your rank felt special in Halo 2. Not like nowadays.

Yeah man i totally agree with you. You felt like you had something to prove every game knowing you could possibly lose your level. Now its just about staying in games and eventually you rank up.

Ah the good ol' days.

I never looked at Halo 2 matchmaking so materialistically before. For me, the gaming environment was suffice. What was fun, in my opinion, was socializing pleasantly with people whilst still enjoying a serious game that had elements of synergy and sarcasm... in a good way.
