Subject: "Search Thread Subjects" Feature For Search Bar

Key

I've often tried to find specific threads on specific topics, and this is excessively difficult with the current forum search feature. I almost never use it because of the fact that I can never find what I'm looking for.

Therefore, may I suggest a feature where you can specifically search forum topics, not forum posts themselves? This meaning the only results that come up would be forum topics, not posts.

thoughts?

I completely agree. And how many times do you see a forum topic flamed by "try the search bar" posts. The current search system is a step above a library card catalog.

Brownie lives!

"10000?"

I would definitely love to have this feature.

Positive vibes.

I like it. I think that it would be much easier to find what you are looking for if they implemented this.

It only takes a simple question to change everything.

This would be very nice to have.

Good to know I'm not the only one.

It would be an awesome feature.

For the time being, I suggest Google.

The search bar on here is the worst i've ever seen. I can find a specific thread faster on google then the searchbar. It's useless in all honesty.

Hello! You may also know me as Ijnekono. How you have made your way here I do not know, but welcome. (:

There should also be a way to check post-count on your B.net profile.

Actually, I find that I'm more invincible without pants, which is why I am not wearing any at the moment.

That would actually make it useful. Yes. We need this.

And I would have found that had I been able to search for it properly. :P

I don't mind that you created this thread. I just wanted to share my thoughts on improving the search feature.

I like it how it is now... It's like a "Bungie Roulette" where you search for one thread, but end up finding several threads that are even better...

Wait, this isn't how it is already? That explains why the search function is always so useless to me then >.<

Topic tags?

The implementation of them would certainly assist this new feature in being much more effective, if that's what you're saying, of course.

  • 08.22.2011 7:29 AM PDT

I create a topic and tag it with the words 'halo', 'bungie', 'wraith', 'kill', and 'screenshot'. Another user can then search 'bungie wraith kill screenshot', and my topic will be in the results of that search. I would call it 'tag searching', so you could choose 'Tag' instead of 'forums', 'Halo: Reach files' or 'Forums'.

Ah, but even then we would run into the problem of inappropriate tags. You could say that a thread would just get locked if it was about asking for blue flames and the tags were: "Halo" "Scorpion" "Cortana" "Halo Wars", but that's just one more thing for the ninjas to have to sort through.

I was merely suggesting that the search feature be used to search through the subject lines of the threads, pick out ones with the words you typed in, and sort them accordingly by relevance or author name or something like that.

Taking into account obviously the spacing in between words (looking for the words 'space' and 'ship' separately as opposed to one with 'spaceship', for example) and the order in which the words are arranged within the search bar.

Yeah bungie.net's search is defunked. I use google to search for a sepicific thread.

I'd like to see b.net intergrate google search for their site, after all they are free from M$ now!
