Running Halo 2 Vista on Windows 7 x64, Singleplayer Runs great, But when i try to get the Update to go online, It downloads, exits the game and does nothing. Basically goes back to the Desktop. So i manually downloaded the update and installed it, Says it Installed, But still when i connect, It says i need to download the Update. I done many different things to get this to work, But no luck.

From various Compatibility mode Settings, To even going into the App data/Temp and Installing the Extracted Update, and that STILL didn't work.

Any Ideas? a Registry edit or something. Or a way to physically install it? Anything will help, Thanks.

Add me to your friends list if you haven't already. It's a lot more fun to play with people from The Maw and people I know than random noobs.

It sounds like you've done most of what we could tell you to do. You can always call Microsoft if you really want, but this forum can generally provide much better assistance.

Unfortunately Halo 2 Vista is infamous for errors in installation and update procedures. Hopefully you can get it to work, but be prepared that it may not.

FOLLOW THIS GUIDE STEP BYE STEP AND I GUARANTEE IT WILL WORK

Step 1: Uninstall Halo 2 Vista
Step 2: Uninstall anything with "Games for windows live" in it's name
Step 3: Go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE" and delete the contents of that folder and the folder it self.
Step 4: Go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Halo 2" and delete the contents of that folder and the folder it self.
Step 5: Go to "C:\Users\Shay\Documents\My Games\Halo 2" and delete the contents of that folder and the folder it self.
Step 5: Download and install this http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=201134
Step 6: Install Halo 2 Vista, do not launch.
Step 7: Download and install this http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/0/e/b0ec1acf-8623-45 20-9764-75baaffc0718/Update.exe
Step 7: Launch "startup.exe" once, log in. Wait until main menu appears.
Step 8: Quit, and from now on, use "halo2.exe"

Do yourself a favor and ignore idiotic trolls like Omega Man. And I hope you are successful in your attempt to fix this issue.
