I can't get the list for CTF servers, but I can use direct IP. The reason why I can't get the list is because of a "blaster virus" on my sister's pc, because she runs too many windows open. We have a 1701HW 2wire router, and I unplug it, restart it, etc, and it still won't work. 2wire and SBC won't help at all. Besides tearing up her computer piece by piece, what can I do?

You got a virus because your sister has too many windows open??? Sounds unlikely...

Do a complete system scan anyway (virus, trojans, adware, ...) before you proceed. If you can't get rid of the virus should there be one, you'll have to wipe your drive clean and start over.

I had it too sometimes in the past when I had my SMC router. I still have no idea about the cause, but I never have it anymore now with my new Linksys wireless router.

AS a rule of thumb, always have an antivirus program when you spend hours online. And like Ice said, you can't just get a virus from having too many windows open. YOU CAN however, get a virus by stupidly opening files. Ask your sister about that.....<_<

Also, things like Norton are nice to have, provided you can tweak the settings to prevent them from being a pain in the ass. :P

While I haven't tried it myself, I've heard that avast makes pretty good AV software for free. Might want to give that a try if you can't afford anything else...

Oh, a firewall won't hurt either. This one, ZoneAlarm, stops inbound as well as outbound traffic. You'll need to tweak it to allow Halo, but it does a fine job of protection, though.

So you can't see ctf servers but everything else you can see?!
Well okay, I doubt a blaster virus can do that. I think I had a blaster on my ocmputer before, is it the one that gives you like a minute to save your stuff then it restarts your computer?

Well we do have anti-virus, it's just that if she runs too many windows open it'll crash our network. We scan and scan, so no viruses, she just got a new hard drive. she pisses me off, always ruining my halo pc fun, I couldn't join the TUI server today cuz of her.

And once again, she is not going to crash your network because she has too many windows open. The only thing she can do is crash her own pc.

You need to stop thinking about your sister as the greatest evil in the universe ;)

The real problem lies with your own copy of Halo, or, more likely, with a bad configuration of your router. Didn't you say in another thread that you changed your router settings because you wanted to run a DS? Didn't this thread pop up at the exact same time as when you messed with your router? I'm not sure if that is a coincidence...

I don't think it's his fault that the bungie-ctf servers won't show up on his list. They've done this several times since I've started playing halo. Right now, Xfire shows that only like 3 people are in all of the ctf servers.

Agreed. There's no way having too many windows open will crash a computer. NO way.
