One being does halo 2 pc have voice chat?

If i buy wireless gaming receiver for win does that work for ce and 2 and a wireless headset?

  • 08.22.2011 3:46 PM PDT

It does but it's poor, GFWL practically broke it over time. I recommend using another method, personally i use Steam group chat.

I assume you're asking about the 360 wireless controller and headset...i can confirm the wireless controller does work for H2V as it is the method my friend uses whenever he decides to play the game. As for Halo PC, why you would want to use a controller i don't know since there's no aim assist...but it does work, in my experience the axis's were a bit off at times and didnt always respond as they would on an Xbox without aim assist etc. And finally as for the headset, Halo PC has no official voice chat so you have to use another method instead.

Thanks, i also just thought of another, does halo 2 have live co-op or no?

  • 08.22.2011 3:58 PM PDT

I have both games for PC and the wireless reciever works but it is slow compared to the key strokes,I paid $15 for it online, had a slight problem with the reciever with CE but got it to work, don't know about the voice chat as I have never tried it..will check it when i'm online playing tomorrow and will PM you the result but I'm sure there are plenty of people here who can answer you on that one.

Yes and no. Officially no it doesn't, but there is an unfinished mod (seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nqo4J2Rf52k&feature=channe l_video_title) that Shock120 and a modding team were working on. Sadly due to complications it was never finished, although i do have the unfinished build, most of the Arby levels work although unstable and prone to crashing with the Chief ones barely working at all.

As far as i know, it's been abandoned due to complications. There is an Xbox version that works but the Vista one was impossible. It's sad, it could have been the boost H2V needed (people may have bought the game solely for the mod and co op but that's a longshot).

Hope i've helped.

If you're still interested in the co op, i made a tutorial here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDmH38STMpA. Thats assuming you have the game.

Thanks you're awesome, by the way how many installs can i do with both ce and 2 on pc and does reinstalling count as an install?

  • 08.28.2011 10:33 PM PDT

Halo pc has an unlimited number of installs, Halo 2 Vista has 5 before you need to ring M$ to get a new CD key...i'm not sure if this includes reinstalls though.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Not saying you're unreliable or anything, but what's your source?

Thanks for the answer, anyway i just got halo pc, halo 2v, and a wired controller that i ordered, the problem is the controller lights up for a sec then doesn't turn on when plugged into my vista computer. It works with my xbox, and when plugged into a hub that has a separate wire for power and another for a usb to computer the controller does turn on when the hub is only connected to power, when i plug the other wire in the computer the controller just turns off. I tried to update the drivers (which it says it is from 2006) but it says it is the most current version. So is there something i could do or more up to date driver i could get that the computer isn't finding?

In that case, that's pretty ridiculous.

Before i try to help, are you using the official 360 wired controller or an alternative?

Official.

Ok, well i can only make a few suggestions and maybe some other members of the community can help me out...

1. Make sure the controller is plugged in BEFORE you start H2V, i've had issues with it working if i plug it in when the games running. Also, the light does not always stay on on the controller.

2. Try plugging the controller in directly into your PC's USB port and not a hub.

3. Remove the currently installed drivers for the controller and then try again...this is the most likely one.

As i'm not entirely certain, those are the only suggestions i have at the time, maybe someone with more knowledge will be able to help.

I did both 1 and 2, and I can't find where the drivers would be online.

EDIT: I managed to get it working on ce i haven't tried on 2 yet tho.

When installing halo 2 i get this,

"The processor speed on this computer is too low to run Halo 2 for Windows Vista. This computer appears to be capable of running at a faster speed but may be currently running at reduced speed to conserve power.

Your computer's current processor speed: 1000 Megahertz
Your computer's maximum processor speed: 2000 Megahertz
Minimum required processor speed: 1500 Megahertz"

Does this mean my computer is just choosing not to run at those speeds just at that time or do i need to change a setting in the computer to push it up?

  • 09.03.2011 3:06 PM PDT

belive it or not, your right, you need to go to your power options and make sure your computer is running in highest preformance mode
