Hi All,

I'm new here so I hope I'm posting in the right place.

Maybe someone can put me straight on this. I was playing Halo in the UK before Christmas and I hade a huge list of servers in Halo. I moved to Ireland and have just managed to get broadband again here but now the list of servers is quite small and with few people in them. Now, I can join servers by manually typing in the server add. Any ideas? Has something happened in the last few months that I don't know about? BTW I did a total reinstal of Halo and still the same.

I first came accross Halo about a year and a half ago and quickly became an addict. Then I had to go cold turkey. Now I'm back....Feels good. AHHHHHHH

Funny, I think the break has made me a better player, not that I was ever any good.

Good to be back

Cheers

Sound like you are using the old version of halo. The newest update has to be manually updated.

Go to downloads and follow directions.

Hi Scopean_kill1,

Thanks for replying. You might be on the right track, however, I Just downloaded the auto patcher into the halo dir overwriting the file that was already there. Hasn't changed anything. Still just a small number of servers.

well... personally i dont like to use the built in server browser. xfire's server browser is faster and shows more servers. its also easier to navigate and shows more about the server too. soo... if you want... [url=http://www.xfire.com]download xfire[/xfire]

but if you dont want... then i honestly dont know what to do. never had that problem.

check filters, maybe?

That's /url, but whatever.

I don't really know what could be the problem... The Xfire solution might help. Here is a nice tutorial on the features of Xfire, as well as a list of players from these forums who have Xfire (the list being there so that you can find good people to play with more easily. Check it out and see if you want to download Xfire.

If not, then maybe back then you had a stronger internet service? That's all my non-technical mind can think of at the moment.
Good luck!

Thank you people. The xfire solution sounds good to me.

BTW. The filters are set correctly. I wonder if the connection would have anything to do with it as you say. In the Uk I was on cable broadband but here I live outside the city all that is available to me(finantialy) is broadband using the phone line.

Thanks again

The type of broadband doesn't matter. What could be the problem is that your ISP is blocking certain ports without your knowledge.

I had that problem too in the past and it turned out to be my crap-ass SMC router. Ever since I got a Linksys, it never occured again.
