As everyone knows by now, Bungie will be publishing Crimson for Bungie Aerospace on 9/1. Now you may be thinking that this is the first time Bungie has ever done something like this. But, you would be wrong. To this day, Bungie has published two games in it's history. Those games are Abuse and Weekend Warrior. Bungie doesn't neccesarily have the best track record on Bungie games.

In the time of Marathon Infinity, Bungie publised these games for companies that wanted their game on the Mac OS. The first game was Abuse.

Abuse was a pretty simple game if you ask me. It's a side scrolling shoot-them-up game. The game kind of reminded me of the original Metroid game. It's actually kind of fun and the game is actually free. But if I were to play a game at the time, it would have easily been Marathon Infinity.

Now here comes the worst part... Weekend Warrior. Now, I only heard about this game till about a couple of years ago, looking through Bungiepedia. I was pretty stunned when I had heard that Bungie had published this game for the Mac OS, and never heard it from Bungie and has no mention of it on Bungie.net, even the Bungie history page. Even Abuse has some pictures in the classic screenshots. I thought to myself "Why has Bungie failed to say anything about this game at all, even it's own existence?" So I found a free download of the game on the internet and played the game. I'll tell you why Bungie has never mentioned this game.

It is the worst game in the entire world. I literally, to this day, can not think of a worse game. The only thing I could get out of the game was that you are on a game show, and basically you would either win prizes, or die. It sounds kind of interesting in theory, but it is terrible. I can't even find an article on it because it is so bad.

Crimson, that will be coming out on 9/1, will be the first game that Bungie has published in about 15 years. I'm pretty excited to get some hands on play at PAX this year, because the game actually looks really fun, as I've never really played a pirate/ship battle game on the iPad before. I'm already excited to see what the next game for Aerospace is going to be.

Most Mac OS games sucked the big one...

Although Weekend Warrior was not the best game, it was groundbreaking in its technical achievements of its time. Getting a little bit of Bungie history and the in-game announcer are the only things the game offers to play now-a-days. I could think of worse games, but I see why you didn't like it.

Sorry OP, but the point of this thread seems to be that you don't like Weekend Warrior. If it is as bad as you say, I hope Crimson is a lot better.

Weekend Warrior rings a bell though, was it referenced in the Halo 3 Double EXP Weekends or something?

You know, now that I think of it, that probably is the oldest game that I've played with an in-game announcer.

I'm sure there is worse games, but my opinion could be biased. Since it was a game that Bungie published, I kind of forced myself to play through it, and it ended up being the more I played it, the worse I hated it.

My intent was just to fill people on information about Bungie's past on publishing games. I just thought it would be a good time to make a thread about it since this is the first time in 15 years that Bungie will be publishing a game.

I do realize I talked a lot about Weekend Warrior, but I just wanted to fill people in on how bad it is.

The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.

The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.

As you waste your breath complaining about life, Someone out there is breathing their last. Appreciate what you have.

If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.

I have Weekend Warrior :D

I think there's a bright future for Bungie publishing these new games, despite their history. I mean, Weekend Warrior was released in late 1996. Between then and now, the company has grown to acquire much more knowledge and industry smarts.

In my opinion, Abuse is my favorite side scrolling shooter.

Edit: Well of course if it is my favorite, it would be my opinion. That was funky.

Yeah, I totally agree. I'm not saying that Bungie Aerospace is doomed because their history in publishing games. I think Bungie Aerospace is awesome, especially considering that they are making it possible for independent game developers to get their games better. I wouldn't mind making a game for iOS through Bungie Aerospace myself if I could get a team at my college to make a game for it.
