About me: I am a vicious wolf of a man.
But really am sweet at heart. =)
Bungie never gave us a hint of what Aerospace was until launch, but in the mean time said
"Our programmers are working on something special that we are very excited to reveal."
Now tell me. Does that sound like a new game? Or a way of backing indie developers? Sounds like a new game to me. They essentially gave us false advertisement for a few months, made it seem like they were working on revealing their new title, and gave us something totally different that doesn't affect us at all.
Now, to totally ream crazysnipe's idiotic "breakdown" of my post and all the fanboys for good.
What is that? What has Bungie "always stood for"? You don't know. You're not Bungie. Bungie chooses what Bungie stands for because THEY'RE -blam!-ING BUNGIE!
The only way that statement could hold any relevance is if Bungie's mission statement was: "We're Bungie. We make halo. We make games for Xbox 360." And it's not...
No, but Bungie's statement is "we make games we want to play". If Bungie wants to play games with broken combat and melee systems, with rampant nade spam, a pathetic campaign, and horribly designed maps, maybe they shouldn't be in the game industry.
How did they crush their fanbase? Where are you getting that info from? Where were all the threads about how their fanbase has been crushed in the Reach forum? I saw none.
You obviously have never seen the Reach forum, ever. For every post praising the game, there is another one laying out VERY clear points about how Reach was a rushed mess that was only thrown out so they could be free of Microsoft, the very dev that gave them their big push.
How can they push back a new title that they have literally NOT SAID ONE WORD ABOUT EVER?!
Are you that dumb? Bungie can't legally make another Halo title. What else are they supposed to do? Give up because Halo is no longer an option? And how are they treading "dangerous ground"? They're just making a new game.
And where did you get that statistic "95% of their fanbase loves them for". That doesn't make sense at all. I'm sure that more than 5% of their fanbase has played more than Halo...
Wow, thanks for totally spinning my post the wrong way. You make it seem like Bungie was forced off of Halo, that is not the case at all. They chose an idiotic selfish move and left the publisher that gave them their start and treated them like an independent publisher all along anyway. They gave the Halo fan base the cold shoulder in the process as well essentially saying, even in the ViDoc that 2 more games were the price to pay for their freedom.
NOT "We cant wait to make 2 more Halo games." It was "2 more games to go until freedom"
Also, my figures are totally correct thank you very much. If I'm wrong, please direct me to the Marathon and Myth forums. Oh? They don't exist? Oh well.
Where's your proof that 3 people worked on it? Hello? I said, where's your proof that 3 people worked on it? Who told you this information? What's your source? Hello? Are you there?
Im not going through all of the weekly updates to find the quote. But Urk said that 97% of the studio was working on their new project, but a small team would stay behind to work on Reach. If you gather that around 270 people worked at Bungie at that time. Do the math. Less than a dozen people were working on Reach.
That.... and a 55 minute ViDoc. Did you want a personalized "good-bye" message from Urk himself?
Also, they didn't hand it over to anyone.
Anyone reading this who is misinformed about the "hand over" to 343 Industries please read the following.
Bungie never owned Halo. Microsoft always did. Bungie never had anything to hand over. Microsoft just didn't want to give it up. Bungie handed over nothing. Microsoft just kept what they had.
A ViDoc, 2 months late. They cared so little about it that they dragged it out longer for no reason. And you are the idiot my friend. Jason Jones had the rights, but sold them to Microsoft. Bungie wanted the rights back before leaving the company. So essentially they would have deprived Microsoft of their best dev, and their multi billion dollar IP.
BUNGIE was the side being selfish.
They admitted lots of mistakes. And you are just another one of the pour souls who didn't listen to what they were ACTUALLY saying in the ViDoc. They said that Reach was the perfect experience for them. As developers.
They had lots of freedom to do what they wanted and had fun doing it. They never said Reach was a flawless game, nor that Halo was a flawless franchise.
Not what I said. They spent a good 15 minutes just talking about the issues with Halo 2, even the shortcomings of 3. But NEVER mentioned any of the problems with the Reach Beta or Reach its self.
Wake up, and stop being a blind fanboy.
