Subject: Dead Spartan in Lone Wolf (Not Noble 6)

Brefastlunchandinnah.

I noticed that when I got to Lone Wolf after playing through the entire solo campaign on Legendary (good riddance to that b.s.), I noticed that by the sniper rifle on the edge of the map, there was a dead spartan lying on the ground. It wasn't any of the Nobles, and it definately wasn't me or any of my friends' corpses, so I didn't know what the deal was with it. I don't remember the entire armour config, I just remember it was sort've a light pink-ish colour with a CQC or Grenadier helmet. I was just wondering if this was supposed to be some legendary easter egg or just a normal detail on the map?

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

There are atleast a dozen of randomly generated dead Spartan's in that level.

...

Yeah, there are 13 dead Spartans I think. When Noble Six dies that makes 14.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

Bungie sure gave a damn about canon on this level.

Which is why I have little respect for them.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

They actually do mention that there are other Spartans on Reach on the level New Alexandria, so it's entirely possible that there were a lot of S-IIIs on Reach at the time.

But yeah, Reach is a ret-con nightmare... sure, ultimately Bungie had control over the story of Halo and people like Eric Nylund are just writers hired to write the novels, but it still bothers me that Bungie ignored a lot of the established canon that those guys put a lot of time into creating.

I read somewhere that the bodies were theorirized to be Red Team, or... Blue Team?

I don't know it was a while ago and I didn't read much into the theory.

im not entirely convinced on that. Blue Team was comprised of S-IIs right? i would assume that their base armor and size would differ from an S-III even if the Reach ones seem abit different from the ones in Ghosts of Onyx

it was "Red team" and it was for the map Highlands 343I map pack. deception? IDK anymore, but anyways in highlands if you go near one of the crashed pelicans you will hear radio chatter talking about alpha red team or somehting which is a different team from red team

Yeah, and the S-II's wore standard MkV armor. Normally the only thing they used multiple variations of were weapons. if the S-II's varied their armor, they wouldn't change color, and they would be minor changes, i.e. the little camera or sensor things on their helmets.

At the end of New Alexandria, I think it is Jun who mentions two teams, implied to be Noble-size S-III teams. It could be those.

"Sir, is it true about Gauntlet, Red and Echo teams being assigned to evacuation ops?"
"Those are senior-level communique-"
etc.

We know Red, but Gauntlet and Echo are the two he means.

I haven't read the appropriate book(s), did Red Team get assigned to evac ops - i.e. did we know that from other sources before Reach came out?

Red Team was assigned to the defence of the SMAC generators when Operation RED FLAG went south, so Jun is talking bollocks because Red Team weren't even fighting the Covenant before the 30th.

Probably members of gamma company who failed to defend reach, what's interesting is half of them are female Spartans.

Gamma Company wasn't shipped out until about November, the battle of Reach was in August.

Its pretty clear Bungie's version of the S-III project timeline/specifications differs from Eric Nylund's. Odd choice since alot of the canonnical errors could be fixed by replacing S-IIIs with IIs
