"When I joined the corps we didn't have any fancy shmancy tanks! We had sticks! Two sticks and a rock for the whole platoon! And we had to SHARE the rock!"

i've recently read Halo: The ghosts of Onyx and heard that a new book Halo: Glasslands is going to pick up where it left off but i was kinda wondering how possibly theres anyway that the spartans and Halsley are going to get out? and how it might affect halo 4

Ive seen authors write themselves into corners and miraculously keep the story going.
Im sure there will be a plausible explanation detailing how Halsey and the other Spartans escaped.

"There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe."
Gospel of John, 1:1-7

The thing about writing, is with enough rereading and fact checking, you can change the story in a couple sentences. It'd be easy to make the story work out, and I'm sure it'll be good.

"On the seventh day, god did not rest, but rather he created 64 player multiplayer!"

The only concern I have for Glasslands is that this book wasn't meant to clear things up with Ghosts of Onyx, so I have a feeling we're not going to get a proper finish to GoO. It was going to be its' own story but when fans found out it wasn't going to be a GoO sequel, I believe the backlash influenced Microsoft, and they forced Traviss to write a follow up to GoO.

I hope she wrote something decent but, I'm honestly expecting GoO to get the short end of the stick...the extremely short end...

I agree i can see GoO getting the short end although apperntly the main story coincides with Halsey and the others meeting up with the main characters of the story.

although i can see alot of people flaming Travis for how it turns out..

to be honest, i dont want to complain whether itll be worse or as good as expected, because frankly, im just glad that the S-III's are going to be in another book, i REALLY like the S-III's storyline

I didn't like ghosts of onyx as much as the others. No flood and hardly any covenant(they're only mentioned in a few S-III operations) but just a meaningless battle between Spartans and onyx sentinels. If Glasslands had its own story without Ghosts of onyx connection then it would still be good (my opinion)

You must have read a completely different Ghosts of Onyx to everyone else...

Ignore my gamertag. It's actually Dragonzzilla.

The Cast of Glasslands meets the Ghosts of Onyx Crew during the Story, hence the "Sequel" term.

The only thing that i'm a little confused at is why the sanghelli are still attacking a human colony. Apparently someone didn't get the message, even after the brutes betrayed them... I'm concluding then that there are still elite enemies in the Halo universe then.

Yeah, I mean, the Covenant were only like half the plot of the entire freaking story.

Though its not as if the Covenant were a point of view character or anything monumental like that.

Wait....what? When was it said the Elites are attacking a human colony?

I do believe that the person you quoted is referring to Onyx and merely mixed up terms between it being a classified military occupied planet and a colony. Still, he does bring up a valid point to a point. The Elites that gathered near Joyous Exultation apparently did not get the message that humanity is now allies with the Elites as the civil war broke out, and despite the betrayal of the Prophets still continued with religious zeal to recover Forerunner artifacts and exterminating any human along the way.

While many post war stories in the reissued adjuncts and Evolutions note a relatively peaceful relationship between the two races post war, it would be interesting to see if there are still pockets of Elites out there that never got the message and remained hostile to Humanity. Though I would imagine depending on how long post war the book takes place that it would not be many. It does seems though that Glasslands will deal with grudges that remain within individuals of both races in spite of recognizing the alliance as well. Should prove to be an interesting dynamic.

I'm a bit more optimistic after having read Traviss' Republic Commando novels. She's a good author, imo, and I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed.
