Ignore my gamertag. It's actually Dragonzzilla.

Because Halo: Reach came out last, the earlier games could not implement some Halo: Reach concepts. One of them was the difference of Sangheili Armor between ranks.

My Theory was before the fall of Reach the Covenant used more ornate and decorative combat harnesses, but later made all Sangheili armor similar because it was too easy to spot high-ranking officers. However, they kept the colors so they themselves could still identify officers.

What is the canon physical appearance of Sangheili? Do they have hoof-like feet or toes that splay? Do their eyes face forward or to the sides? Such questions plague my mind.

I would believe that they stand tall and have toes that splay while keeping the overall Halo 2 saurian look. Also, have Halo Wars traits as well. Having significant muscularity and have their armor make them look larger than they actually are; a common trait among real-world predators.

And they didn't change the brightly colored and easy to spot rank indicating colored armor because...

So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

The cannon alone for Reach is screwed up.

I wouldn't be surprised if the cannon of the Elites also got screwed up.

If you want to know what they look like watch "Halo: Legends" or play Halo 2 and at the very beginning you'll see the Arbiter be given the mark of shame without any armor on him.

There, now you know.

"Canon" Decimator. I don't really give a care if Reach broke Canon in your Books, it was freaking cool. Every alien looked menacing and intimidating; this gave a new refreshed look on the Covenant.

Edit: I've both played Halo 2 and watched Legends. I'm just saying some Games and Books show awesome traits that work with other traits from other games or books. Thats why a Halo Hybrid would be cool.

I can agree with that. they finally made the elites look awesome, like miniature Dino-beasts that just kick ass all day. They were truly fun to fight this time around (except their shield were WAY too strong, it took like 4 full dmr clips to the head just to pop a general's shields, and atleast 5 headshots with a sniper to kill them). But they were alot more Cunning, looked cooler, they stood up straighter instead of looking like hunched over lizard people in shiny armor. I hope i halo 4 they bring them back like in reach cuz that'd be ALOT of fun to fight with them like that. Even the armor configs were great. It's like you see a gold horned elite, you know you're in trouble, an orange one, no big deal, white, you're in for a fight, and Zealot. . . You're screwed. Like I said they better be in halo 4 or I'm gunna lose hope

As far as Elite traits such as feet and eyes, isnt it possible that different clans could possess different traits?

HIGHLY unlikely, sorry. Human races don't have different eye locations or feet and since all Humanoids are like that, no.

You are assuming elites are all of one species, where perhaps "elites" refer to the classification of "family" or "genus", which certainly could be the case.

Even so, there are different mutations present among modern humans. There are also plenty of visible differences among humans; it is certainly not out of the question for there to be varying physical features among the elites as well.

And it already seems that the appearance of brutes may be dependent on clan and then there is the whole jackal/skirmisher thing.

If you mean the fur, I agree to a point but offer the old theory that the Halo 2-era Brutes were all from Tartarus' clan and didn't - shave? groom? - their fur possibly due to some dishonorable failure.

I dont know about that. Sangheili do have different biology and that could mean they might be more adaptive to their surroundings. But of course this is speculation on my part. I dont think there's anything supporting or disproving it.

  • 08.25.2011 11:16 AM PDT

The apparent differences between the various human "races" is actually hilariously minute, "race" being a social construct - not a biological one (in -blam!- sapiens atleast).

The morphological differences between Elites in the Halo games must either be non-canon artistic license or that "Elite" is a common term for a genus of various, similar species. Eyes being placed on the side of the head and then also in the front of the head is a massive morphological difference. Toes and hooves are likewise very different (although I think the "hooved" look on some Elites is just an aesthetic thing, the toes and held together because of armor or whatever).

Why hello there.

Microwave ovens are quite large.

WORT, WORT,WORT!

As for the Elites feet I think they stayed the same after Reach, But they just used a different "shoe" that was solid and encased the whole foot rather than just the tops of the toes like in Reach. It would and more protection I guess, And I'm sure you could kick much harder.

Weapon of Oppression

Elites do not have hooves, and never will.

I swear I've seen that "theory" somewhere before.

Just don't use Reach as a cannon point of view. It'll make things so much simpler.
