First off honesty is the best policy.

I use three different bungie.net accounts. My main one is this one which I recently created on 7/7/11 so as to have an account that matched my xbl account. Previously I created an account named Balor. And my old account Frag Ingot which I created back in '07.

A few weeks ago, I was bored and wanted to see if I could provoke a phenomenon. I wanted to see if the community could come together and get it so that only gold posts were on the first page of the community forums. So, I posted an innocuous post in the flood. It was a simple post asking people to post something relevant in old golden community threads. I knew it was pushing rule boundaries, but I thought the worst it would get me is a minor ban. So I used my Balor account.

Well I was wrong. The ban-hammer smashed my head like a walnut. Balor was permabanned. I was like oh F%#*!

Curious to see the affect of being permabanned, I logged in with my main account (which I use with IE9, vs FF for Balor and Frag) and replied to a post. Then I logged in with Frag and replied to a post. Well Frag Ingot got a 3 day ban for circumventing the permaban. Now every time I post with Frag I get banned from the Disembodied Soul for three days.
Disembodied Soul issued an extended ban that expires 8/5/2011 11:01 AM.
Reason: An account owned by you has previously been blacklisted, using a different account to avoid the blacklist is not permitted.

I tried talking with the moderator whom banned me, but I had admitted that I had other accounts, and I could live for three days without posting. So my request to be un-permabanned was denied.

So, now my point. Because I have violated the rules severe enough to deserve a permaban, and despite my feeling that I contribute positively most of the time, I intend to abide by my punishment and never post again within the Bungie forums.

And as a final request, if a mod feels that I should adhere to my punishment, then please perma ban this account and frag's account. But if by some chance they feel I may deserve a reprieve, please unban Balor.

Thank you, and God bless.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

This sounds like giving up.

Are you going to let the interpretations of one person dictate how and when you use this site? The whole point of law is that there is ambiguity in both rules and enforcement; there is a large grey area. I can't explain why I care enough to post this but the thought of you resigning yourself to the "oh well" attitude just angers me.

Additionally (and I could very well be wrong), I thought the moderation team considered permabans as punishment for the account as opposed to the person. If an account did something wrong, it's privileges were taken away but it was never intended to be punishment directed at the person using the account. Separating the two is, in my opinion, a silly view to take, but it is a belief I had thought some moderators had...
