When I first got this game it fragged alot, at the time I had 256mb memory, a 2.6g processor and a Geforce fx5500 vidoe card. I upgraded the memory to 1g and it doesn't frag as bad as it did, but it still frags alot, especially in multiplayer when I'm in corridors and buildings. Can someone tell me why?
When I first got the video card I was having alot of trouble getting it to work right, and tech support said my power supply may not be up to par, just the bare minimum listed on the box (250W), but with the right drivers it's doing okay. Can that cause the problem or is it something else? I just can't figure why an older game like this is having so many issues on a system like mine. Thanks for any input.

Frags = framerate issues?

I never heard that word being used to describe performance issues. I associate that word with grenades or kill counts.

Anyways try turning down the screen resolution to 640x480 and turn off specular and decals. That seems to make huge improvements for me. And why do I get the feeling you have a Celeron processor?

If you frag alot, that's a good thing. LOL.

But seriously, if you're referring to your fps, I turn down my screen resolution to 640 by 480 and turn off specular. This is especially true if you're playing in maps like Hang 'Em High or Damnation. (My computer handles decals fine.)

or get a new video card.... there's your problem. since 64 mb memory is enough for halo, adding more memory doesn't realy help. geting a new video card would help

i am assuming that you are refering to the framerate by "frags" although, no one here has herd that term be used in that way...

Heyyo,

New vidcard would help the most. I suggest at least a 9800 PRO as that's what I had before and it ran halo very well.

And yeah...

Frags = grenades / kills / killcount

Lag = latency / studdering netcode / studdering framerates

I have nVidia GeForce 5500 and Intel Pentium 5500 and it still runs at a decent framerate (for me) at 800 by 600 with max visuals and audio.

Dont bother with the geforce 5500's theyre complete trash. If you dont have the money for anything better, then save because you'll regret it if you dump $70 on a P.O.S videocard thats no better than an integrated graphics card. The minimum I'd go for would be the 6600GT (not LE, or the regular 6600, only the 6600GT). You can get them for around $150. Dont buy anything lower or it will be a waste of money and you will regret it.
