Ignore my gamertag. It's actually Dragonzzilla.

The question is to a certain extent. I just want to get this straight; so follow me and tell me if I'm incorrect in your Post.

Active Camouflage has been a steadfast "Suit Module" since Halo CE first used by the Elites. This Armor Ability is no doubt canon.

I believe Someone once said Master Chief in the opening of Halo 3 used "Armor Lock" or went into an "armor lockup". Is this "armor lock" canon, and is Reach's?

Halopedia apparently speaks the Drop Shield is canon, used by the ONI Beta-5 Division. It appears to have a similar system to Halo 3's Bubble Shields, albeit more advanced. Is the Drop Shield canon?

Evade was used in Halo: Reach for Sangheili warriors to quickly evade (no pun intended) a grenade or a rifle shot. Normally, I would say this is gameplay purposes because anybody can roll out of harm's way, but Sangheili practically glide using it. Is the Evade Module canon?

Holograms are very canon things, but the "Hologram Module" may be in for debate. The Holo-Drones used by Sesa 'Refumee in Halo 2 have been claimed to be "more advanced variations of the Hologram armor ability". Is the Hologram module canon?

Jet Packs, like Holograms, are very canon things in the Halo Universe. Examples range from the Jiralhanae Jump-pack to the UNSC Thruster Pack. But is Reach's Portable Jump-jet canon?

Lastly, Sprinting is gameplay purposes like Evade. Anybody can do a quick burst and tire out.

We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.

Yes and no, they are primarily there for a new gameplay experience but they do have to fit into the universe and seem believable.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

As far as we know these abilities exist in the universe.

Evade is however probably just the ability to dive, which anyone can do.

I <3 Combat Evolved

I remember reading long ago sprint was a result of Kat (or some other Spartan) removing the safety limit from the armor. That is, she got rid of the limit of the speed Spartans can go, albeit for a short time. So Sprint would be cannon, but not an actual AA if you viewed it from a book standpoint.

I am Field Master Avu Med 'Telcam, Servant of the Abiding Truth, and I have many brothers.

A god who creates tools is still a god. It is not for us to impose qualifications upon the divine or presume to guess its intentions.

Oh look, this thread again.

The armor lock in the game is not canon, but armor locking does exist.

Armor lock would lock the armors joints and pressurize the gel layer. It would not defelect bullets, but it would prevent limbs from being broken and it would reduce blunt force trauma.

So if it were canonical, it would only save you from falling and melee damage (but not piercing attacks a la an energy sword).

Anything that could penetrate the armor still would.

United Armed Forces

Bungie said a while ago to preserve canon that all the armor abilities were prototypes, and that they were destroyed along with Reach.

And that was probably the only effort they made to not have cannon clashes.

yes, cannon clashes tend to be explosive in nature. I prefer more peaceful canon clashes.

They were prototypes being tested on Reach. When it fell, the UNSC was unable to retrieve them.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I don't consider Halo: Reach as canon. I consider The Fall of Reach as canon, which doesn't have Armor Abilities. So, no.

Then you're ignoring canon.

This'll end in a never ending circle right here. Bungie ignored the Novel cannon. This dude is ignoring Bungies cannon.

There is nothing you can do. We'll just all have to accept that there is a big gaping hole in cannon, and we'll have to leave it up to 343 to decide what to do with it.

All of the Armor Abilities are completely canon. The way that Sprint and Evade function in the game is just gameplay. Spartans and Elites don't need an AA to do those. However they are still canon, Sprint just allows a Spartan to go faster by unlocking the speed limiters in the armor for a couple seconds. And what Evade does is makes the armor more flexible and increases mobility, or something like that.

*sigh* So many people just don't get it. What Master Chief used at the beginning of Halo 3 is not the same thing as the Armor Ability Armor Lock in Reach. Armor Lock diverts almost all of the power from the other functions of the armor to the shielding system which overcharges it and produces a bit of an EMP field, the only reason it's called Armor Lock is because without the necessary power to other functions, such as movement, the user can't move around and thus they're essentially locked in place. The "armor lock" Chief used is nothing at all like the AA, what Chief used was restricting the movement of the gel layer and locking the joints on the armor so he couldn't move. The only similarities between the two is that you can't move.
