We should know better, because we are better.

To clear the Universe of all the threads in the wrong forum. Blocking good discussion value with that worthless trash. That, and because I want to help make this a better place.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

I've seen a variety of good answers so far. Alcohol, power, secrets, womens.

Those.

See, I think it's okay to clean up stuff when it's truly unnecessary or causing problems, but being that pressurizing on people is extremely suffocating. You'd want people to feel your presence, but not feel so scared to post that discussion is effectively choked.

Those threads are just a bit of harmless noise on the forums. They're things that are relatively on-topic (Halo Vs Star Wars, etc, or things about what 343i are up to) so you can't just annihilate everything and force people to only talk about certain topics. They're not breaking any rules. Besides, they usually die out quickly anyway.

"Moderator" is actually just a little bit incorrect as a name for what the Ninjas do. They don't moderate discussion; it's more like supervising, really.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Most of the moderators are a**holes.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

To make the jobs of the other Forum Ninjas easier. I'd be warning and banning people like crazy. They'd barely have to do anything. Plus I love to prove I'm responsible, and what better way than moderating a whole website.

Moderating the B.net forums obviously involves personal discretion of the moderator dealing with the issue at hand. Face it, some tend to be a little more flexible than others. I have disagreed with a moderator's decision before, a couple times, but I've never seen a moderator be an outright ass without repercussions.

Based on my PM inbox?

It is because I am a fat, lonely, ugly man-child who lives in my parent's basement eating hot pockets and ramen and I have come to realize that I will never know the touch of a woman and to compensate I get a sick thrill from being unreasonable and unfairly banning people on an Internet forum who are not only better people than I, but they have done nothing wrong in their entire lives.

Clearly these people do not know me. I can't stand hot-pockets.

Are you telling me you have dozens of PMs like that and HAVEN'T posted them in Waaahmbulance?!

Judging by recent threads, it's clear to me that at least some people who regular this forum think I should be, so it's only right I say my bit, even if I don't feel like I deserve any of the pseudo-nominations (I just post here; stop making me feel awkward!).

So, if I was to be honest, ignoring any and all external opinions: I wouldn't mind moderating the forums. Not for any reason other than I think I'm familiar with the rules enough to be unbiased, and that I really like to see the forums clean and tidy. Plus, I'm here bloody well often enough, F5ing forever, so why not put that time to good use? :P

Despite any sort of stigma against me, what you read is what you get. I don't care for popularity, nor for power nor for whatever else I read people say I'm looking for. And I can't remember the last time I bit anyone's head off for disagreeing with me...though now I think about it, probably the dolt-escapades, but I think that was a nice learning experience anyway (yay for group-mentality!).

So yeah, just figured I'd say my bit. I really don't care if I'm approached about it or not. I enjoy being here as much as the rest of you, and I love the friends I've made from the forums, so if helping out here as a Moderator is something in my future, then sure, I'd be glad to help.

Stop banning me please.

Yeah so I won't get banned

I'll just get the title stripped away

This, but I'm not ready yet. Maybe in a few years.

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

If any reason it'd be the 24/7 free parking right up close to the entrance...

What a perk.

Key

I would give the cliche'd "I wanna work really hard and clean up the reach forums and the flood and ban all the trolls like Cena and Jane." But I know that's not true. I'd participate just as much as I do now after the first week. Maybe lock a misplace thread or two a day in the community forum. Go to the flood every now and then and take care of a troll or two.

So to be honest, if I was a offered the position as a ninja (which I won't be) I guess I'd want to just to see what it's like to do it. To be on the side of the people with the ability to lock threads and ban people. I know from logic and people like Achilles who've talked about it that it's obviously not glamorous but it could, at the very least, be interesting. Plus, all those hate messages sound like fun.

Achilles is just a whiner... and ungrateful, that's all.

Actually it's just all a ploy by the moderators in a bid to keep their secure in their positions by making the rest of you all think it's all work and it's hard and unthankful.

I would only want to be a moderator if we needed more of them. If we did, then I would want to be one because I spend a lot of time on Bungie.net.

I would want to be a mod because there is a few people -*cena, cough!* that I could be rid of faster. I love the flood and want to make it a more enjoyable place I guess... Oh and I love orange. Orange is awesome!

I don't know. It has no benefits whatsoever.

IT'S NOT EVEN A REAL SYMBOL OF STATUS!
But they're a requirement if the site is going to run well, and the people who do it are those who have something to give back to the community.

Games I like:,
Half-Minute Hero
MBU
Portal
Halo 3 is the best Halo ever
Maps I like: Turf, Avalanche, Pylon, Sandbox, Breakpoint and many more.

I would love to, especially since Bungie has fallen into dark times. Mainly because you are given responsibility. Oh, and also the fact that everyone below you fears you.

What? That was meant to be a funny joke.

"We live in a special time; the only time where we can observationally verify that we live in a very special time" - Lawrence Krauss.

I was a finalist :P

I have noticed a high correlation between the bungie.net community forum and threads which are related to moderators and/or moderating (are we due for something?)

In any case, the idea of moderating is entirely up to ones self, and they have the ability to realise if they can be trusted with such a responsible task on this site, which has a large online community population- growing exponentially.

We have to remember that ones experience would most likely change once they reach the rank of Moderator and they way people look upon them on the forums.

However, in my personal opinion, moderating is a privilege and it also shows that people are willing to trust you with such an important responsibility, in order to make other peoples experiences more enjoyable be it by removing people who break the rules, partake in discussions, and/or help people who need assistance.

Perhaps a moderator (or past moderator) can shed some light as to how their experience on the forum had changed once they became moderator?
