Subject: Why 343 didn't attack the covenant in the terminal video

Spark also didn't tell Chief what "containment" entailed, exactly. I'd say he was being deceptive in his intentions.

Not telling someone what containment was because one assumes they already know how this works is hardly being deceptive. Or is your definition of deceptive something other than a purposefully misleading behavior with the intent of accomplishing something with it? Because again, Spark does not even remotely display any such behavior in Halo CE.

This makes me wonder, what defensive systems do the Rings possess? Sentinel armies such as Onyx?

At the very least Sentinel armies from what was seen in Cryptum.

In no way was 343 desceiving Chief. He assumed that he knew the protocol.

Maybe because Monitors only attack a threat to their own Installation???...

The Covenant aren't a threat as they are scared of damaging a single Forerunner artifact.

The autumn on the other end was unknown to Spark and might be hostile till he discovered there were Humans.

How would spark even know?

I am Field Master Avu Med 'Telcam, Servant of the Abiding Truth, and I have many brothers.

A god who creates tools is still a god. It is not for us to impose qualifications upon the divine or presume to guess its intentions.

Does anyone have that quote from Guilty Spark? About how the Covenant are known to just observe and record Forerunner artifacts, then leave? He basically sees them as peaceful, and backing up from OP's quote, he certainly is okay with them learning about the forerunners. The Autumn however, before it was identified as a human ship with reclaimers on board, was obviously not Covenant, aka not peaceful. Thus 343 was hostile towards it until the scans were completed and he noticed the reclaimers.
