I had a thread about the Forerunners that got moved to the New Mombasa forum and then it got deleted but I don't know why it got deleted so I think that if a thread gets deleted for a less than obvious reason, the thread starter should be informed that it was deleted and they should get a reason for it.

I guess you're right about that. Moderators should give a legit reason to why they deleted a thread.

EDIT: You know, most of them do give a reason. I guess sometimes they just forget or just expect you to realize what the problem was.

I work at Microsoft. I have nothing to do with Halo and nothing I say is "the official word".

At least its not as bad as the "mystery blacklisting"

Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

I'm going to try to remember...

The moderators tend to not get to explain the reasonings behind their actions all of the time because it would take too much time. If they had to do it for everyone who didn't understand why, they would be essentially wasting valuable time.

I am not completely sure, but I believe that is the reason...

Its a website run by Bungie.
They dont have to explain anything.
Its a simple fact of the matter.

They don't have to explain anything but it would be better (or worse depending on whether you think it's too much work for the moderators) for the confused members.

Whenever I do delete a thread, I try to PM the member about why. Unless it's really obvious, like they posted pr0n or something. Most of the time I don't even delete posts. I just lock them.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Bungie would probably say that you don't have a right to know, but it would still be nice if they did something about it. It'd be a pain in the ass and not very effective to try to "force" mods to do it, but maybe Bungie could update there site with some sort of script that when a thread gets locked or moved, it automatically sends a message to the thread's creator saying "Your thread was locked in [Forum]."

I don't think its nessisary.

Relavent Story: Once this jack@ss created a lemonparty thread {if you don't know whats on that site, you are lucky} and said in the subjest "This guy's a level 50 in everything!" Obviously a modder was most people's thought but definetly worth checking out. If you clicked on the link, well, go to lemonpary.org and see for yourself.

Point is {Delta Archer even made a thread that said "DON'T GO TO THE LEVEL 50 THREAD!!"} the link would still work and if it was locked you'd still see [bad things] if you were unfortunete enough to click on the link and, there were over 50 posts about people {including me} yelling at the dude. Threads like that should be deleted, not locked.

Too much work for the mods. Only one of my threads was ever deleted.

If somebody put a link to that kind of site, I don't think they'd need clarification of why their thread was deleted. I'm talking about threads that don't quite or just barely break rules.
