Subject: Earthquake/ Irene Bracelets?

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

This hurricane, I tell you. I live in Maryland and I can't believe the destruction the rising water has caused. I had to mop the kitchen floor twice as I tracked so many muddy foot prints.

And that earthquake? I discovered, after having woke up from a wonderful night's sleep, that the bottle of water I left on my desk may have shifted a few centimeters.

I'm just sitting here, reading these awful tales... You are truly all soldiers.

What earthquake?
Irene is a category one, it will do little to no damage at all. I never got anything for surviving three catagory 4 hurricanes in a row, so I see no point in anyone getting a swag bag for "surviving" such a small storm. I'm sorry that I'm being so rude, but honestly, you are overreacting.

Really, three cat 4's in a row. What year were those storms and their names? And alot of you know nothing of hurricanes/tropical storms. Worse part isn't when the storm comes to land, but afterwards. Storm surges, flooding, etc.

Earthquake: 5.8
Hurricane: Category 1 Storm

When did the East Coast become such pushovers?

They aren't pushovers, they are just SOOOO not used to these sort of things. I live in Pennsylvania. There are no tectonic plate faults in Pennsylvania. Hence nobody was expecting an earthquake hence we thought it was the end of the world. :P And then there's a hurricane. If you don't count Lake Erie, Pennsylvania is landlocked. We don't normally have to deal with hurricanes or the runoff of hurricanes or even the tail end of hurricanes. Hence we all got a little freaked out.

Plus, to compound that, these two, very unusual mid atlantic natural disasters happened in the same week. Think of the context of the situation next time.

  • 08.28.2011 7:55 AM PDT

Speaking from Virginia I didn't think it was bad. I didn't even loose power. ps its funny how the whole east cost gets stereotyped i slept through the earthquake, as for the hurricane i have to help pick up a ton of leaves.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

That is so incredibly insulting to make a bracelet off of the earthquake.

How so? It hardly did anything...
exactly

I think until the President declares a "disaster area" on areas hit by the storm, there really isn't anything to do. Sure, some people got hit worse than others, but we all don't have to jump every time the ground moves or we get rained on.

The earthquake and the hurricane were both lame.
The meterologically correct term is Tropical Storm.

Wait, I think that makes it sound lamer.

and it was a hurricane, and when it was a hurricane is when it delivered most of it's damage, which is what we're referring to.

Notice how dmbfan was talking in the past tense?

I see, I tend to forget tenses at times.
Now where would the tropical storm fit on there?

Hahahaha. This is actually a good point. Why give aid to a rich country with loads of welfare schemes and withold aid from people with bugger all resources?

It was in 2004 in Florida.
It was Charley, Francis, Ivan (Category 5), and Jeanne. Over 3000 people in total died from those storms and OP being stingy and pushover is not amusing at all.

  • 08.28.2011 11:27 AM PDT

Really? Bracelets for a Category 1/ Tropical Storm and a small earthquake? Hurricane Ike did a lot more damage than that, and we're still going strong without any help, here in Houston/Galveston.

Wow. This joke thread makes it painfully obvious just how easy it is to troll the Community forum.

There's one thing to do alright, and that's to ignore all warnings and go take some pictures!

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

I think it may be snowing in Alaska. Those poor people...

Bungie why don't you care about their plight? Why don't you care about your fellow Americans?

I don't always ban people but when I do I laugh uncontrollably...that's if I was a Forum Ninja.

Truth is a matter of perception.

The Button

It's not that bad, if it was Katrina bad I could understand Bungie doing something. As it is now it isn't bad.
