Stupid cousins.

Shouldn't this be in The Library or something?

I had a friend come over on the release of the xbox, I hated halo the first time I started playing, but then I grew to love it.

I was at a friends house and he wanted me to play with him on halo and i kinda liked it but he wouldn't let me do anything but play multiplayer and wouldn't play co-op with me. then we had our other friends come over to play and i got hooked.

I was in my local GAME store buying an xbox with a couple of other games (not halo) and the guy said that Halo was included in the bundle. I took a look at the box (I wasn't really into FPS then) and I wasn't sure. But I thought, 'Meh, it's a free game' so I bought it. And so began the Halo era.

My mate, I went round his house to look at his new Xbox. The first game he had was Halo, so we played that on Co-Op mode none stop all night (ON FRECKIN LEGENDARY MAN!)

You've got to think crazy, of course, because you only get innovation by refining insanity. - Jason Jones

I went to my uncles house (he was 28) as i usually would for the weekend to play games and go to a car show in illinois. He was a huge gamer like myself, we always played unreal or quake lan's. This weekend in early 02 it was dark when i arrived, immediately when i walked in he told me to sit down in his couch that stretched around 2 walls and reclined. I sat down, and then he proceded to turn on his 42" plasma television and xbox. He ordered papa johns and told me to hold on to my ass and enjoy. I figured it was some silly game, as soon as the Pillar of autumn and the ring were on screen i was hooked. It was space, the future and a war and i was hooked. I played for 2 days straight and beat it that weekend on legendary and it has been love ever since. Sadly the one who introduced me to the game (my uncle) passed away september of 02 and never got to experience halo 2.

For Carnage, Apply Within.

I have returned from the Untamed Lands. MOAP is dead.

Our stories seem to be similar.

Me and my friend went to Blockbluster to rent a Gamecube game. Xbox bundle was on sale and he bought it. He kept saying Halo was the best game. I didn't believe him. Got back to my house and played the level Halo on Legendary Co op. Took us about 2 hours just to get past the first tower. Man, those were some good times.

Do you feel what I feel, see what I see, hear what I hear?
There is a line you must draw between your dream world and reality

i started playin it with my cousin. We'd play on co-op, although i do recall plenty of team-killing when we had low health. Just spawn in with full health and get yoru -blam!- back. Good times

We got an X-box for Christmas. I got Halo with it. Best game I ever played, instantly.

Well this may sound like heresy, but I was looking around in the game section and I saw this thing called the X-Box. I wanted a PS2 so I didn't pay much attention to the competetors. I saw the box for Halo and thought it looked *gasp* stupid. But later that year, my friend invited me over and set me up with a controller. The first level I ever played was The Silent Cartographer. I was like "alright that was cool." Then we played 343 Guilty Spark. That was the first time I battled the Flood, and the beggining of my Halo obsession.

Facts are the enemy of tru7h....

It was at a dinner party i believe. Halo was wearing a top hat and tails and drinking the cheap wine they had brought in. I meanwhile was talking to Lady Frothington about the Pygmy Shortage that we'd been facing that year...

... or that could have been a drunken dream.... i get confused sometimes

Seriously, i'd been waiting for Halo to some out since it had been announced for the Mac. At that time i was still expecting a Kickass RTS like myth. I was so distraught when bungie were acquired by microsoft and it appreared that Halo would be years away... and it was.

The first time i played it was at my first year at Uni. My flatmate had just got an xbox and had gotten halo with it. It was great.. None to good for my studies though.... i didn't do to well that semester. We used to sit in and have Halo multiplayer matches instead of going to class. Which probably wasn't a good idea. But it definately influenced my decision to want to be a game developer. I mean i'd always wanted to be a game programmer when i was younger but i was heading for a more mundane job in I.T. at the time. When i played halo i remembered how good bungies other games are and went and played them too. I thought, 'I have to be apart of a team who can create stuff like this!'. Now i'm doing a Masters Degree in Games Development. And so the story continues.... one day i hope to work for a company like bungie, if not bungie themselves... but theres also alot of great talent here in Scotland so we'll see when happens.
