Subject: Could This Mean Moar Spam?

In response to this thread, I was thinking, could this mean more spam on Bnet? If all Halo-related elements (forums, stats, etc.) will be removed from Bungie.net, we could have a problem. In-game (in both H3 and Halo: Reach), players are prompted to go to Bungie.net for stats and the 'ultra-mature forums (lol),' and that's where there's a conflict. There's been a lot of Reach-related spam in the Community forum as of late, but some of the players are able to find the appropriate forum for their post. If the Halo forums are gone, nobody will have a place to put their Halo-related threads, and unless they somehow remove those prompts, I think Bungie.net may have a lot more spam in its forums.

Thoughts?

EDIT: From the thread above, I was referring to this quote:

It looks as if they are taking Halo from Bungie.net entirely. How will this effect the B.net population, will the Reach forum goers move on? What do you have to say about this.

If, for some reason, the Halo Forums are completely removed (which I don't think will happen, but maybe), The Flood would be the appropriate place to discuss Halo.

Of course, 343 could just get rid of that message about going to Bungie.net... which I'm sure they'll do if they didn't already (my Xbox is borked, so I have no clue).

You're right. I think Bungie should make one. What would it be named though?

Wait... Where did it say that they Halo forums will be removed?

And no, this will not mean more spam. School is just now starting , so in reality there will be less spam.

Why is everyone so rude? Please, save your sarcastic remarks until the OP posts at least once. Do you think that if they can't find the clearly marked "Halo Forums" that they'll be able to find the HFCS article with the forums descriptions and know that it goes in the Flood? Do not be so close-minded! :)

Dmb, I don't think they'll remove them either. I was just wondering what the Community thought about the scenario.

Nope, they'll probably spam all the other boards.

Please explain to me where I was rude and sarcastic. As of now, and until Achronos or another member of the web-team makes a statement, the Halo forums are staying.

Also, it is doubtful that 343i will keep the prompt to check out Bungie.net for stats. And if they do, and users still have questions about the stats here, they are still allowed to ask in the Bungie Community forum. If they have questions about Halo games, they could still, as Dmb said, post these in the Flood.

Plus, have you never seen the quote box when you click 'Reply'? This directly states that Bungie isn't manning the helm that is Halo. Sure others might not see this box, but many other have. There will always be threads in the wrong location, and it is up to the community to report them, and the mods to lock them.

I see no reason for any of Bungie.net's Halo related forums to be removed, the only thing that I think will change is the "officialness" of them. 343i's forums are now the official forums for Halo, and Bungie's Halo forums should be looked at as just another forum by fans (albeit, that they are on the website of the people who originally created the game).

I meant the sarcastic remarks and then your response, which was just paraphrasing what others have said. This is a simple thread, and so far only you and dmb have given actual answers, I believe.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Maybe Bungie can find a way to redirect folks to Waypoint for Halo threads?

Alright, since we seem to be on a "you didn't understand my post" spree here, I'll explain my previous post.

By saying that I saw no reason for the forums to be removed, and that they would only loose their "officialness" I meant that the level of spam will stay the same if not decrease.

To go even further, I think the post in the OP is drastically misleading and potentially false. I would like to see some references linked if I am to believe all of Bungie.net's Halo related forums will be removed (which is what I understood was the question).

343i has taken over Halo, I thought we understood this already.

They've already clarified that they are no longer the "official" source for Halo stuff, but I think they should take the suggestions set forth in this post.

Yes, the hyperlink solution would just be so much easier. The bright blue text might draw attention, and they might read it. It's sad that we have to talk about these guys like their total idiots, but they seem to miss the huge box that is available for reading when they are posting.
