Subject: Halo: Reach epilogue: human-forerunner ship, other implications

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that a major part of the "Reclaimer Trilogy" deals with humans reclaiming the forerunner technology left behind and ultimately taking up the mantle and becoming the new protectors of the galaxy.

Frankie said that now that the wars over humans, now have time to actually examine forerunner technology and integrate it into their own.

The epilogue of Halo; Reach takes place 30 years from now. Notice that the planet went from a flaming dust ball to a fully life supporting vegetated planet in 30 years? That's not possible by natural means. Also notice that the ship in the background does not exactly look human.

Bungie is already giving us hints. Having reclaimed forerunner technology, we used it to restore reach, and the ship is one made with the advancements we've gained from forerunner tech.

Just an observation...

Awesome theory, Wazooty.

Plausible. I like it.

I wake up to find myself
After all these years
And where all the time has gone
Still seems so unclear

It takes the Forerunner at the peak of their technology over 300 years to teraform a planet. It would take longer than 30 for the UNSC even with Forerunner technology.

lolno

The Data Pad you misinterpreted that says it takes humanity 110-300 years to reteraform a glassed planet by themselves. Thus by using Forerunner technology it takes significantly less time.

It takes humanity at the peak of their technology (Pre 2553) 110-300 years to teraform a planet. It would probably take the UNSC even less than 30 years with the addition of forerunner tech.

Fixed.

But it wasn't fully glassed or burnt. Does it take so long for a forest to recover from a wildfire?

And that ship was stated a colony ship. I didn't get a majorly 'forerunner' feeling from it...

We don't know how badly glassing -blam!-s up a planet...

Maybe the damage isn't as hard to repair compared to teraforming a planet like mars into 1 that can support life?

Depends on the planet and how heavily they do it. Reach, unlike other planets, didn't seem to get the orbital bombardment across the globe to kill nearly all life (the Evolutions planet got that no? Hence it was still mostly lifeless).

Look at it again. It looks nothing like any "human" ship we now know. I never said it was a forerunner ship either, I said it was a human ship made with the advancements of forerunner technology, so by all means, I'm not sure where what I said would prevent it from being a "colony" ship...?

I find you rather shallow and pedantic.

Terra forming FTW

Isn't this information people should have picked up on a long time ago? What do you think would be the first thing the humans would do after the war? Reverse engineer all newly found technology. Covenant tech... Forerunner tech... Take it and aplly it to their own. This is clearly the first thing they would do, after almost becoming excienct. To feel safer and being superior to their enemies.

Sure, but did you or anyone else see the clues left in the game? No? Just pointing something out that might have easily been glazed over. Bungie knows what's up, and who can say how long the story about to be told by 343 has been in their minds? It's crazy to consider that perhaps even 10 years ago bungie might have had the entire story about to be told mapped out (not in any major detail, but in general).

If I may ask... What forerunner tech on earth would allow them to terraform quicker? Enhance their ships a good bit?

The only Forerunner tech on the ark was the portal no?

Wouldn't to reverse engineer something, you have to have an item similar/what you are trying to build?

Instillation 05 was not destroyed and we know where it is. Covenant tech is built off forerunner tech. Human-Sangheili allience. Elites have forerunner tech too. We don't know how much, but they do.
If you remember the short-story or motion comic "the return", the elite ship master finds a small team of humans searching for something. Humans (but 0ne) are dead. However, the elite finds something in the human camp what looks as if the humans had found an "oracle". The humans have found alot more then we know. Just sayin.

Im not sure about more than the covanent, but ONI definitely knows alot more than any of the games/books have let on. For all we know they could've already been working on Forerunner tech from before the events of Halo. But again thanks to Wazooty. It had bugged me that Reach had been terraformed so quickly but it never occured to me that the UNSC might've adapted forerunner tech. very plausibe.

That DOES take place after Halo 3 though...
