Subject: The One Major Flaw Of Bringing Back Halo 2 Multiplayer for XBL Arcade

There is one flaw, one bad thing about the possibility of bringing back Halo 2 for Xbox Live. I posted this on another topic but I'll post it on here:

Once a few years ago on Halo 1 PC some guy was acting like he was a soldier being all like "Move out! Retreat! Go go go!" And he actually made it funner. A lot funner. We of course defeated the other team cause of him. He was so fun to play with. Then a year later there were some people starting a server saying "We haven't played this since 2004" kinda strange but, I joined and starting doing what the guy from that one game I talked about was doing. The leader said "Dude, shut up. You think this is a tactical game? This is Halo." I left. I was confused. In that one game, we were all having fun while he was doing that, talking to each other and doing that ourselves. In MW2 I started doing that and people were all like "Dude! Shut the -blam!- up!" And in a recent game of Black Ops I played, everyone was rude to each other. Man, I miss the old days of gaming. I wish everyone were like the people I played with that day, nice and fun. Now people are the opposite, rude and boring.

Now looking back, if it was put on Xbox Live Arcade with live back, the new generation of players would say "Ew that came is old and bad graphics, lets go play Halo Reach" The new, -blam!- generation would ruin the experience a little. It would still be fun, but it wouldn't be the same. People like that from that game Halo 1 PC are gone now. Its sad really. I had so much fun with that guy, I and everyone else did a lot of games in a row with him. It is my finest Halo memory. It is impossible to ever get an experience like that now. It would have to be staged. That my friends, is the one major flaw of bringing back live for Halo 2.

Straight Edge.

I respectfully disagree, I think that a Halo 2 Remake would bring out the best in the community, people like myself who were around when Halo 2 was current.

Don't think for a second that a Halo 2 remake would be the metaphoric Messiah for gaming attitudes. The game its self was not the cause for the attitudes, it was the people.

Truth is, gamers have changed. There's not many people left who purely want to have fun in a game instead of constantly act like asses to each other. I have played Halo PC from the time it came out to now and I've actually witnessed process you're talking about in the OP take place over time. I remember when you could go into games and say funny crap like that and everyone would become buddies around the hilarity. Where people didn't tell you to shut up just for saying "Hi" or "gg" (That means "Good Game" if some of you might not know).

I really miss those days with a passion. Honestly, its so long ago I can't tell if it was just the fact I was young that it seemed that way or if things really did change. All I know is things felt better back then. In fact, I might have been the guy that you were talking about. I used to do that sort of thing all the time. xD

My grandson and I did that playing coop CMP. Man that was fun, we just made up stuff, calling out to each other (we couldn't/didn't want to peek at the other screen). It was just fun playing Outskirts and Metropolis like we were in the Marines, lol.

I'm betting it's at least partly selective memory; games like that still happen occasionally. Sure, you often get cussed out in Reach when you try to chat helpfully, but there's the occasional game full of friendly chat.

One way of alleviating the problem, of course, is to frequently play alongside people you know. Though there definitely is an odd magic to being part of a surprisingly friendly group of randoms.

<3 Halo 2

When you were the last person on your team, the other team would stop killing you and you could superjump the whole rest of the game. Fun times

indeed
I as well miss the old days when people played just for fun >_<

This is actually the stupidest thing ever posted on B.net:

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

Sooo I really don't understand the OP. It just seems to me that you got barked back at by some randoms over Xbox Live and it hurt your feelings. Don't take online gaming so personal or play with friends.

Here is a tissue for your issue.

Exactly! In my opinion, the game is only responsible for half of the fun you have, the rest is the quality of the people you're with. Its great to play games with someone you love. (:

He is saying that A part of the original experience was in the community, and that remaking it in this age would ruin (or damage) the remake due to the players.

Messing around in rumble pit with friends = Me falling in love with Halo 2.

Nostalgia deludes accurate memory. There were plenty of people "trash talking" and plenty of "rude" people during the days of Halo 2.

I <3 Halo 2 and Trombones ^.^

Agreed.
