I don't find any connection between Campaign mode and Online. I Online you play against a maximum of 15 other players, (slayer), and they're trying to kill each other as well, while in Campaign, you're being swarmed by dozens of Flood and Covies, and they're all focused on killing you and only you.
Your opponents in Campaign can dive and roll, while in Online, we can only jump, crouch and zig-zag. Campaign opponents behavior is more predictable than online.
I'm pretty good in Online play. I've played Campaign through once on normal. I poked my nose back into Campaign a few times, sometimes on higher settings. Usually, it's just more enemies and not enough ammo, so you die.
