This site will always have it's ups and downs depending on when Bungie's games are released. It might never be as active as it was around the times Halo 3/Reach came out, but that might be a good thing.

Agreed.

As soon as Bungie releases their next project, the site productivity will explode.
and then die back down.

Such is the nature of the BNetz.

If I had a Rocket Launcher, I'd make somebody pay.

Popularity doesn't matter to me that much to be honest, I'm more of a "quality > quantity" guy.

Although I consider myself a loyal Bungie fan, I have not been very active in the forums at Bnet. This is due to the massive whining and trolling that has been going on forever in the game forums. I'm just sick of seeing topics such as "Reachs suuuuxx -blam!1111one" and similar. Heck, even the Universe forum is flooded with loads of junk right now (which it wasn't before if I recall correctly).

I'm only positive for what the transition of the Halo franchise can do to for Bnet, since the real Bungie fans will remain here at Bnet and not leave for Waypoint.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

It shall remain popular. New members will constantly join and old ones will return.

I hope so, it's quite good here :)

Yet the point of the thread was to discuss the frequency with which they do both of those.

I agree, Bungie will not be the same with their new game even if they bring new people, it will not be compared when Bungie managed Halo.

It will continue to grow as more people discover the site through new games and projects like Aerospace and Destiny.

It's quiet between games. Can't wait for a Destiny forum for speculation. Hopefully it'll be like the ODST and Reach forums were pre-release.

PS
No, I do not want to join your clan/group.

Business around here will pick up considerably once Bungie starts releasing details on their new project. The Aerospace endeavous might bright in a few new people, though I doubt it will bring many.

I think in the coming months, the population here will drop even lower as more Halo fans migrate over to the Waypoint forums and we'll hang at that level for a while. As soon as details come out about "Destiny," though, I think we'll see a nice little population explosion.

i think Bnet is plenty popular as it is, it's just that a lot more people are lurking in the shadows... waiting to strike.
It's just that there isn't all that much fresh prey around, if you know what i mean ;)

Yes, definately with the new game coming out we will see an increase but it will vary as to how many will stick around and it will all depend on what Bungie has instore for us to go along with the game but also how we welcome the new crowd and the returning individuals.

Tom said it best... "we will see" because you can not predict such things, you cand only manage them when they happen

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

When the next game comes out, I'm sure it will be. Until then, it's probably going to slow down (it already has), and continue to slow for a little longer. Then we will get he Weekly Updates back when Bungie is ready to drop us some morsels from Destiny.

I hope to see many old users return with the new project. The influx of people from Reach, many of whom are still around, lack... shall we say, quality?

I didn't tell anyone it was going bad. I said its popularity wasn't as good as it used to be.

when was it more populare.ether then when are new game is comming out

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

I don't really know why people think that. Reach's highs for both the game and the website were significantly above Halo 3.

As for your primary question - we'll just have to see what the future brings, won't we?

Posted by: CrazzySnipe55
(I chose H:3 over the height of Reach because 3 was MUCH more popular).

I am curious about comparing Reach's and halo 3's average traffic along with site traffic after each release for the first three months.

^I didn't tell anyone it was going bad. I said its popularity wasn't as good as it used to be.

^The popularity before 343i took over was probably better than it used to be. But once 343i took over, more and more people left and went/moved on to the 343i forums, (which suck, by the way) which was probably 1/4 of the population of Bungie.net.

So the popularity didn't exactly lose popularity, the population just went down a little bit?...

Activity comes and goes in waves.

The site never lost popularity as such, there's just less to talk about in the space between games.
It always evens out in the end.

probably very true, and well put.
i wouldn't worry about those people anyway, they obviously were here only for the game and not the company

Actually, I find that I'm more invincible without pants, which is why I am not wearing any at the moment.

When a company goes dark, people will lose interest. When Bungie starts being more active again, things will pick up for sure.

^Well just think of it?

Look at the Halo: Reach Forums, and the rest of the Halo forums?

The Halo: Reach Forums almost have the most amount of pages of all of the Halo forums. The Halo 3 Forums still may have the most, but the game has been out for almost 4 years now. (31,000 pages) And Halo: Reach has not even been out for a year now and almost has the same amount of the Halo 3 Forums. (H:R Forums = 24-25,000 pages) But this is because of the fact that a -blam!--load of these users that are making/posting up the ass are players that started playing Halo when Halo: Reach came out.

Now think of the chain-reaction of this?

Those new players that started at Halo: Reach have friends, right? So they introduce Halo to them, whci then tend to go out and buy an Xbox w/ Halo: Reach. Which then go and make a Bungie.net account, which also tend to post up the ass.

So the popularity has gone up, down, and then back up again.

So the popularity has probably gone more or so up then down?...
