I don't know, but for me the forums are ok, but hopefully with Bungie's new universe, we might see even more community than before.

Well I was going off like... sales and online activity but I guess it was equally active on the forums now that I think of it.

I don't really know why people think that. Reach's highs for both the game and the website were significantly above Halo 3.

As for your primary question - we'll just have to see what the future brings, won't we?

Posted by: CrazzySnipe55
(I chose H:3 over the height of Reach because 3 was MUCH more popular).

Snipe55, bro... you have Achronos's post quoted... and you still managed to misrepresent what he said.

According to Achronos, sales and online activity are significantly higher than Halo 3.

In sales, Halo: Reach dwarfed Halo 3.

In online activity, 4 years after release the Halo 3 Forums have 30,000 pages. Not even out a year, Halo: Reach has 23-24,000 pages. Don't even say that it is just troll threads, because Halo 3 had the troll problem as well.

As far as Live population, Halo: Reach is holding better numbers as it approaches its 1 year b-day, than Halo 3 did at this point.

I'm not trolling you bro, just wanted to bring this back into perspective for ya. Halo: Reach is actually a more successful game than any Halo that came before it.

But with the way 343 is going (possibly ripping off the look of B.net for Waypoint), I may not buy Halo 4. I think that naming the new trilogy "the Reclaimer Trilogy" is fine for books, but has been proven to be death for a video game. Look at the Shin Megami Tensei series...

I just don't think that that fits in with the Halo that I have loved for a decade... But I will reserve final judgement (and whether I will spend my money on it) for the end of 2012.

But I am not happy about Waypoint planning on ripping off Bungie.net's look!

Waypoint sucks hard, and they fail at making a web-site, so they rip off this one?!? They should hang their heads in shame.

It shall remain popular. New members will constantly join and old ones will return.

Yet the point of the thread was to discuss the frequency with which they do both of those.
It'll go back up when they release another game. Happens every time. And also, every time, there are some people who say that B.net is dying and wonder if it'll ever be so popular again. So in a sense, you're a part of the B.net circle of life.

It's actually significantly more active, Reach has been out what, a year?

And it has 6/7ths of the topics and posts Halo 3 does, a game that has been released three times the length of time, a game with a ton more glitches/map packs/TUs/etc than Reach has had, not to mention the Recon craze Halo 3 had which must have constituted a -blam!- ton of posts.

The highs were, but how about each games' endurance? Which has performed better so far? I always thought that Halo 3 endured more successfully than Reach has (not that Reach isn't immensely successful) so far because of the CoD craze and the population numbers that I think I remember, but if Reach is still doing better that would make me very happy.

Popularity = good.

More popularity = more trolls

More popularity = more smart people

More popularity = more recognition for Bungie

More popularity = good

^And that is EXACTLY what is happening, bro?...

Not at a rate fast enough to be considered a significant gain of popularity.

^I will again say this, think of all of the people who have just now started to play Halo and join the/this Community?

Let's start at Default before Halo: Reach came out?

The popularity is at 100%.
Halo: Reach comes out. +25% of users join the Communtiy.
Since then another 25%.
Now at 150%, we lose -25%.
Now at 125%, we have gained another 5%.

The total is now at 130%, bro?...
A bit late, but... Percentages don't work that way.

Love you Damon Albarn, Bungie FTW
The Satanic Church is where i belong

Bungie is epic, i feel sick that I'm going to buy halo 4 knowing the godfather didn't deliver it, but i must finish the story...

Bungie is great, love the site, gonna' love their next game.

I don't think so / hope now. I only really recently returned here once it started to simmer down. And I rather like it that way.

I don't have much faith in Halo 4, there isn't a clear place to take the story. I have a feeling it will be like that level in Halo 2 that was all Sentinels. Then x3 games.

I have faith in bungie. And hey, maybe with a little luck we can get rid of the egotistical asshats in the Reach forum and stick them with 343i.

I hate you unless I'm drunk.

I tend to stay away from the game forums, mostly because I don't play nearly as much as I used to.

But things seem fine to me, I honestly don't really want b.net to reach a point of usage like 4chan or something.

^But the 3/4 of the population of Bunige.net population origins from the game forums.

In which is my point from before?

Halo: Reach attracted a lot of new players to the Community. Although we lost around 25% of our community, we still gain 5% every week, and lose little by little everyday. And that loss is mostly people who have moved on to the 343i forums.

I would venture that 100% of this community got here from the games Bungie has produced, they have stayed for the community and how awesome the people here are.

I'm merely saying I don't want the place to get too crowded.

^I would actaully say that 99% of this Community comes from Bungie's games.

I myself come from Halo. But so does a lot of other people. But there probably are a few people who are just merely Bungie fans themselves.

But probably .99% of that 1% of people are probably just spammers/trolls who just come here to troll and then leave?...

Yeah, but I think private groups really prevent that from happening to a large degree. When things get really crowded to the point where there is too much static, I think people move into groups for certain kinds of conversations.
So, yeah, people stay for the community here, and they form sub-communities. But those private groups didn't always exist. They take a big load of people off the mains all the time and that may be why there is a perception that there are a lot less people.

The only reason why things are slow around here is because we are going through a type of "dark zone". Once new information (at the very least) comes to surface, I'm sure the activity would come back. Not to mention once the new project that Bungie wants to keep so under wraps is revealed, it will most likely bring a mass number of new users to this site each with their own ideas, opinions, etc.

^I personally agree with your statement.

I feel that once their next project is revealed, the forums will come mor populated than ever before.

Just think about it?

Crimson itslef is going to attract new people here as well? And then Bungie's next project will attract even more people!

Technically, it wasn't really Bungie's project, it was an Independent company using Bungie's engine.

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

I think we'll see a slight dip before Bungie releases anything about their new project then we will see hundreds of repeat threads clogging the forums for days if not weeks. Now that I think of it, I kinda like it like it is: slower and more focused (sometimes).

^I know that is not Bungie's next project. But it is a agme with their label, and when new players who are attracted to the game, it will lead them here to boost the population by, I would say 10-15%? If not, more?...
