It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank god that such men lived. ----------- No Bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country. (both by George S. Patton jr.)

In the halo book cryptum we learn that humans go to war with the forerunners. As we know the forerunners won and that they hate the humans to a passion. We also learn that there is a huge forerunner propaganda machine going around for a while which makes many people believe what they say about humans is over-exaggerated. But what if all they say is true and we are truly a evil species back then? Is it possible we might be facing not the forerunners but the ancient humanity that could be truly evil? Or am I just rambling?

Considering they reduced us to the near stone-age no, we couldn't, we didn't have the technology.

No, Ancient Humanity was devolved.

Eh, it's all a bit hazy Alex. I'm not saying the OP is right but it's possible a bastion survived, maybe one last ship escaped and put themselves in stasis.

Who knows? What was revealed in Cryptum wasn't a primary source of information; it was tertiary, relayed by Bornstellar.

Actually it was revealed by the Didact. Humanity was pushed back to Charum Hakkor, the last planet they had left and helf out there for 50 years before being defeated.

Explain to me, Connor, how a bastion of Ancient Humanity would have managed to survive Halo's firing and sustain a viable population for 100,000 years.

@OP: There really is not any compelling evidence to suggest that such a scenario was true, in my opinion.

Actually it is possible that ancient humanity was actually more technologically advanced than the Forerunners but at the time we came into contact with the Forerunners Ancient Humanity was weakened by the Flood and the fact that Ancient Humanity arrived on a Forerunner world while running from the flood may have seemed like they were invading their world to the Forerunners which caused them to de-evolve Humanity.

I meant that de-evolved humanity would not have the tech to destroy the forerunners.

Oh ok I thought you were trying to say that the Forerunners were more technologically advanced than Ancient Humanity.

They were. Ancient Humanity was only in the early stages of being a Tier 1 race.

One ship containing thousands could easily hold enough to maintain a population. As for surviving Halo's fire, I imagine that if the Forerunners could do it ancient humanity could too.

Again, I'm not saying the guy is right. But it's never wise to deal in absolutes.

My name isn't Connor but I'll add my two cents. I could easily see a ship or two slipping away as the Forerunner pushed ancient Humanity back to Charum Hakkor. Ancient Humanity was also very advanced, perhaps they built their own shield worlds.

Of course I don't believe a word of what I just posted but I was just giving you a possible scenario.

Edit: It seems that Connor beat me to answering the question posed to him.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that I agree with your prediction. I think Halo 4 will involve major human vs. human elements.

Thank you! I don't understand why people suddenly think that humans can live for 100,000 years and survive the Halo array.

Halo 4 will be on a forerunner planet.

Chakas in halo primordium exerpt is talking to a reclaimer probably a chief.

Maybe Chakas lead a bunch of his and risers people to the forerunner planet in halo 4.

perhaps they leave the galaxy, and re-enter

  • 08.29.2011 11:24 PM PDT

I haven't had a chance to pick up Cryptum yet, so my knowledge is limited, but I have a hard time believing that 343 would pit MC against our ancient ancestors--evil or not.

  • 08.29.2011 11:38 PM PDT

You never know, maybe it's some hyper advanced plauge created by the humans to fight the flood and now chief has to kill it before all life in the galaxy is wiped out.
