Caveman and midget caveman vs. The Universe or Human Elite Cold War??

I personally can't decide. I am so excited for them both!!

I know I was making fun of them but as a halo fan that is my right

I'm skeptical about Glasslands, but after hearing more about it at PAX, I'm excited.

I really want to read through Primordium.

Primordium

I could not sit through another novel of Sangheili hubris. I had thought things to have somewhat changed post Halo 3, even a little bit, but nope.

Primordium seems more interesting now anyway.

Funny you say that because Greg Bear said the main theme of Primordium is hubris. So what, do you prefer a different kind of hubris?

OT: I'm interested in Glasslands, atm, because I want to see how the humans and Elites' relationships evolve throughout the book, something Travis is spectacular at. I also seem to be the only one in the Universe forum who has a clue as to how Karen Traviss writes.

I'm not a big fan of Karen Traviss, that woman is a -blam!-! :P

I enjoy her writing, but this is the way I can see Halo going...

Halsey is to be majorly demonised until everyone in the universe hates her (even though she's done morally questionable actions, she's like a human version of the Librarian), the Spartans and Mendez are going to have a major character derailment for the sake of drama because there's nothing to do in the MDS. I do not understand why Mendez is going to hate Halsey, he has previously been all in favour of her actions, it's Halsey herself that has had doubts.

ONI better not be acting like pricks and screwing over mankinds best hope at an alliance with somebody useful....

At worst in the Star Wars canon, she's portrayed the Jedi as negative, which isn't to farfetched. I know she's asked Frankie if Halsey could be considered a war criminal and HE said yes. So Frankie has as much blame in this as her.

have you by any chance read the Gears of War novels? And played the games of course? She did a stunning job of keeping the characters and their personalities in check with no melodrama at all, only necessary events and actions; why do you think Epic let her write Gears 3? Surely not because they felt she derailed their characters. In fact, if anything is to go by when looking at those books, she hates melodrama. None of the characters are mopey, not even Dom (who had to mercy kill his own wife for god's sakes). They're all the characters we know and love.

Mendez hating Halsey is likely brought about from being reintroduced to her and having time to think it over. And do you really think 343i would let her go through with it if they didn't think it acceptable?

People seem to confuse character devolopment with melodrama on this site.

When it comes to the SW: RC books, I may be a bit biased in favor of her as I always found the Jedi to be hypocrits. But her inate talent to pick people apart is what sets her apart as a writer; as she explained at Halo Fest, she can not have any prior assumptions about a universe so it doesn't influence her. That is why, as she said, she sees things others don't. She's very logical when it comes to that.

You should be skeptical. An old lady who has no knowledge of the Haloverse and calls ONI "Oh En Eye" is creating a story in Halsey's first person view. WTF. It already sounds like crap. It has an 80 year old woman admiral in it. Also she is writing about the female Sangheili and how important they are. WTF. She said she is going to explore what happens with Onyx a little bit and focus mainly on Halsey's first person view and the two ODST's. WTF.

Hasley is a criminal. She kidnapped six year old children and endoctornated them and forced them into being superheroes. She then put many of them into painful augmentation projects which left some of them deformed

I've only read Anvil Gate, I really enjoyed it and it certainly did feel like an authentic piece of Gears fiction. But there's a large crowd out there who hate what she did with Star Wars, I've not really paid much attention to that but I'm just voicing a few doubts on that basis (though Star Wars "canon" is laughable").

No need to get hostile because you disagree. I have faith in the judgement of 343, but that doesn't mean that they're never going to slip up and do something wrong. Karen approaches her projects in an... unusual way to say at the least, I hate her attitude to her writing which puts doubt into my mind about what she is and isn't fully educated about in the Halo universe.

Definitely Primordium. Greg Bear has proved to me that he can beneficially add to the Halo universe. I'll wait and see what happens with Glasslands

She simply said the abbreviation out for ONI. I was going to say, she did a great job writing the Gears of War novels, so I'm excited to see how she does.

Also, did I hear somewhere they're going back to Blue Team in Glasslands as well?
