"Find where the liar hides, so that I may place my boot between his gums!" - Rtas 'Vadum

Primordium

I could not sit through another novel of Sangheili hubris.

Funny you say that because Greg Bear said the main theme of Primordium is hubris. So what, do you prefer a different kind of hubris?

The hubris that the Forerunners carry themselves with is far less than the Hubris that the Sangheili carry themselves with, but this is not exactly the point. The Forerunners justified it with "Humanity transgressed the Mantle" which I assume in the Haloverse is some rationally justified moral philosophy. That is worlds different from the Sangheili's point of view of "I am taller and I can fit more protein chains in my biceps therefore I am automatically superior in every measurable standard". It is a bit like calling Young Earth Creationists morons - that sort of intellectual arrogance I can stomach far more than racial hubris. So yes, you are right, certain types of hubris.

The Forerunners received the consequences of their actions - their civilization was completely destroyed and they saw the errors of their ways, a fitting life lesson I should think. The Sangheili however do not. They get away with it, they are fine with what they did deep down; they don't truly care and I would not be too surprised to see Humanity bending over backwards for them. And fans will accept it because they do the same.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

ONI better not be acting like pricks and screwing over mankinds best hope at an alliance with somebody useful....
ONI: "Maybe we should kidnap Sangheili leaders and force them to make technology for us. Oh wait you don't understand the technology yourselves?"

*War between Sangheili and the remnants of Humanity*

I could see ONI doing it.

On topic: I'm more excited for Primordium because the Forerunner/Flood story is so interesting, and I don't like things that I like the way they are to change and Travis has a history of doing just that. But I say we give her a chance.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Glasslands. I found Cryptum hard to follow. I'm not trying to criticize it because I was dumb enough to not realize some of the stuff going on. It's just very complex to the point where it's not very enjoyable for me. It took me awhile to get through Cryptum. Again, not the book's fault. My fault for being stupid. Primordium will probably be even more complex. Anyhow, I love ODST's and Traviss said she'll be putting them in the spotlight, which I'm all for.

I am Field Master Avu Med 'Telcam, Servant of the Abiding Truth, and I have many brothers.

A god who creates tools is still a god. It is not for us to impose qualifications upon the divine or presume to guess its intentions.

Primordium.

Obviously.

Primordium.

Like ajw, I'm skeptical about Glasslands because Karen Traviss is starting where Eric Nylund left off. She is sort of finishing his story, sort of not. I don't know, I just think it's weird.

I am looking forward to both, but Primordium is more of a sure-thing I guess.

Primordium for me, I can't wait for it. I'm very skeptical about Glasslands.

You should be skeptical. An old lady who has no knowledge of the Haloverse and calls ONI "Oh En Eye" is creating a story in Halsey's first person view. WTF. It already sounds like crap. It has an 80 year old woman admiral in it. Also she is writing about the female Sangheili and how important they are. WTF. She said she is going to explore what happens with Onyx a little bit and focus mainly on Halsey's first person view and the two ODST's. WTF.
