Subject: A Thing I Notice.

Hello, I'm Mr AwesomePizza. I like pizza and I'm a man. Reasoning for the name. I like to listen to the classics of music, write poetry, play video games, and much much more. I'm always down for a nice chat, so please hit me up for some conversation.

Please Note: That this is just what it seems like. I don't know for certain if Moderators do this on purpose or not.
Alright, every so often the Community gets a troll thread/parody thread. These threads are almost always locked, or not locked and the discussion continues. But, I've noticed the troll/parody threads that aren't locked are all from ex-ninjas,old members, and Mythic members. But when they are from a newer member, or not as known member the thread is locked and the OP is banned.

I personally don't find this fair that ex-mods or older members are let off more than a newer member.(Or so it seems) I mean, if they don't get banned for parodying threads/trolling why should newer members? The argument that theirs is more funny is not acceptable in my opinion because people find different stuff funny.

Discuss.

I'll say that some of the threads you are seeing are "inside" jokes or things of that nature. Also, it they may be more lenient because they know the person's sense of humor and what not.

When they do it, it's not for the intent to troll, it's a lighthearted joke.

- Dawes, A little bit of everything

Could you post some references or sources? It's hard to discuss this when I can't see if it's actually happened. What I'm thinking now is that the parody threads from newer members weren't done as well (as in, they weren't as obvious or funny).

  • 08.29.2011 7:21 PM PDT

From what I have seen ninjas say in the past, parody threads are generally allowed if they are funny. Although I have considered what you are saying before, at the same time older members seem to produce better parodies.

They might not intend to come off as a troll, but they still do. And for that they should be banned. And if Bungie is gonna start banning people because their threads weren't as funny as someone else s, than that's stupid. Funny things are objectionable.

That is wrong.

A good joke is lighthearted and fun for everyone, and normally is for the community.

A troll posts nothing but trash that angers people.

They should both me banned you say?! You my good sir, need to rethink.

The difference is - one of the two is a light-hearted joke, while the other is someone actively trying hard to cause trouble.
One's a detriment and is punishable - you can have one guess as to which.

No, I was saying if it's trolling it should be banned. Even if it was lighthearted. For example, in the Flood a user posted a troll thread about Master Chief. Everyone knew it was trolling, but they found it funny. It was not harmful at all, no swears, no vulgarity, nothing. But he was still banned and the thread was locked. But when there is a troll thread that is in the community thread that is as lighthearted as the thread I mentioned above, it won't get locked. And usually the poster is a more known/older member.

“Dinkleberg!” is a catchphrase used by the character Dad in the Nickelodeon cartoon show “The Fairly Odd Parents.” In the show, Dad has an unrelenting hatred towards the well-to-do and happy neighbor, Dinkleberg, who gets blamed for everything bad that happens. The phrase is used in a similar way, by giving the blame for everything bad that happened to Dinkleberg. This can vary from mundane day-to-day problems to natural disasters.

Those "troll" threads that you say aren't getting locked are obvious jokes, not trolls.

In Halo 4, so it was valid for the Flood.

The Flood is the off topic forum, so it would still be valid. Even then, he shouldn't of gotten ban for a thread that was posted in the wrong forum.
