Does anyone know what resolution Halo CEA is going to be running in? The PC versions of Halo 1 and 2 are capable of rendering in true 1080p, and i figured since Halo CEA for campaign is running on the old Halo engine (which the 360 should be more than capable of running), then maybe the game would be native 1080p as opposed to this upscaling stuff Halo 3/ODST/Reach use?
Those games can be run 1080p on a PC because being able to choose resolutions is standard for PC games, as is having ridiculously high resolutions available.
Note that this has as much to do with available RAM as with processor speed; a lot of modern effects, like HDR and whatnot, eat up a boatload of RAM. Supersample antialiasing can be nasty as well. And, well, consoles don't have much RAM compared to most PC's.
Halo 3 ran in 640p which was sub-hd and i can't remember Reach's exact resolution but it wasn't quite 720p either, maybe CEA can change that?
Reach runs progressive scan with 720 lines. In that sense, it does run 720p, it just doesn't have quite the horizontal resolution that the industry's "720p" standard lays out.
If anyone knows then i'd appreciate a reply or just your thoughts on the matter. Thanks.
Some people, though I can't remember who, analyzed the campaign demo and decided that they thought the video had been rendered in roughly 640 lines and then scaled up to 720. So it might wind up being similar to Halo 3, though that was a much earlier build and anything could happen.

I'm not really sure why people expect that CEA would be likely to push 1080p; it uses just as modern of a graphical system as the other modern Halo titles, and they render with less than half the pixels of proper 1080p.

On another note, I'm not sure why people are all that worried. The visual styles used by modern Halo titles work great with the resolutions they have. It wouldn't hurt to have more, but it's hardly necessary.
