Subject: Give New Members a Chance!

Hello! I'm Bunie.net's resident medical student (hell i'm sure there are more but I'm the only one who openly declares it!) I love my emblem, and I am periodically active.
I have a Twitter

While out driving (i'm a learner) the other week, a car got right up my backside, started beeping its horn and flashing its lights, getting me so riled up that i stalled, at which point he flicked me off and sped off, leaving me a shuddering wreck. My instructor shouted after him "You where a learner once you know!".

This is an idea that is regularly being forgotten by some (some) more established members of the community. Instead of simply saying "Wrong forum" or something as unhelpful, or even insulting the poster for there sometimes obviously pointless thread, a more guiding approach should be taking, perhaps link them to the correct forum, or say just why their thread is so pointless.

OT: I have noticed this a little bit among members. But usually it isn't too bad... well at least not from what I see. But I do understand where you are coming from.

When I grow up I want to be bitter and spiteful.

This would be a wonderful thing to aspire to do for both members and moderators alike.

In the meantime, someone has to teach you how to force others off the road.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

The people to whom this post is directed probably won't heed it's advice. I often see new-ish members acting like asses to other new-ish members as if this makes them somehow better.

We are all the same, let's treat each other the way that we'd like to be treated, otherwise we'll end up killing our species.

Last time I looked 95% of us do do that....

Then again, there is the rules, and if you don't read them its like going through a red light or speeding, just because your new at it doesn't give you freedom to do wrong any amount of times, your still going to be punished.

BTW, lol at stalling.

Sorry I honked at you, I was almost late getting to work.

In all seriousness though, I would agree. People don't need to make other's feel bad just because they were new at or to something.

The only thing you can do is help them out and hope that other people take your lead.

I agree with the Op/title.

My friend has had just joined the Community 10 days ago, and of course is new. He posted in the wrong forums once, and got a warning.

I think that he posted in the wrong forums again, still not knowing where to post his thread, and I belive that he got banned?

The Forum Ninja's need to give new Member's a break?

Seeing how easy it is to create a new account to bypass a ban it isn't easy. That is why warnings were created. Just a gentle slap on the wrist to correct a wrong behavior.

The rules are in place for a reason.
If I speed soon after getting my temporary licence, do i get away with a warning? No. Instead they take away your licence till you retake the test ONCE your 18.

Seriously, if you don't read the rules, or at least try to understand them, after your first warning then you deserve to be banned.

When you first joined her, did you automatically see or at least try to find the rules? I know that I didn't? Same exact thing with a considerable amount of people on the forums.

The problem is - a new member can just as easily be an alternate account, pushing the boundaries.

Treat everybody the same, to a high standard and you'll get the best results - IMO it's how the majority of more experienced members on this forum behave.

I hate you unless I'm drunk.

When I see a confused new member post, I just smile and leave the thread and go about my business.

Because I know by the time I post there will be 6 other identical posts to mine and it'd be a waste of my time and it'd just bump the thread.

On occasion I'll PM the OP instead of posting.

Your friend should have done the same.

^I myself did not read the rules until I finally dound where they were at.

Not all people have as aharp of an eye as other people. And he is one of the people when somebody point something out to them, they seem that they cannot find it.

Because someone has a recent account creation date? So can alts.
This could in fact be one of my alternate accounts. See - hard to tell apart. There is no way of telling the difference.
