Subject: Crimson (possible) Easter Eggs [A COUPLE SO FAR]

Spread the love...

Here are some things I notice about Crimson that may or may not be Easter Eggs towards Bungie's previous games.

The Skull in "Crimson" looks like a Campaign skull.

In the Ships here, one is named Corvette.

In the Ships here, one is named Frigate.

In the Ships here, one is named Cruiser.

Post any others you find!

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

~Long Live Halo 2
Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

Than Bungie using Corvette in the Halo series must have been a nod to the American sports car.

As per the others, I hope you're joking about those being a nod to previous games.

I miss Halo. Maybe Halo 4 will change that.

Edit: Lol nope

Also I wouldn't consider them Easter eggs.

Bungie is more of a publisher than anything; they didn't actually create the game.

I see. So there wasn't even a slight chance of these being intentional? Alright, you guys can lock the thread now I guess.

Corvette- 1. A fast, lightly armed warship, smaller than a destroyer, often armed for antisubmarine operations.
2. An obsolete sailing warship, smaller than a frigate, usually armed with one tier of guns.

Fail? I went on topic straight afterwards you imbecile. Do you struggle with reading more than one sentence or something?

yoo•zel- ('yoo-zhul): slang: vb.

Officium quod Fidelitas.

I wouldn't exactly consider those easter eggs because those are very common names for ships by today's standards.

  • 08.30.2011 10:45 PM PDT

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

Drats, Yoozel beat me to it, but he's correct. There's nothing special or exclusive about those classifications. Though at the same time I can't deny that those choices weren't at all a nod, but it seems like a coincidence.

Where do you think those names came from? Those are the names of the old ships in the navy. Hence the UNSC's ship names. I remember playing PotC around 5 years ago and there where corvettes, frigates and cruisers. The cruisers were the small ones with hardly any cannons.

You noob go frag yourself

There's a ship named ''Dreadnaught'' too.

I do believe I know what I am talking about and I don't think we will ever agree on this so I'm not going to continue this discussion.

Told as balls

Not easter eggs in the slightest.

Those are all very common ship names used by actual naval forces. It makes sense to use those names.

  • 08.31.2011 7:36 AM PDT

Yeah, as others have said, they are names of actual types of ships, not references to Halo.

  • 08.31.2011 7:46 AM PDT

On a related note, ******'s mom has really nice boobs, and it doesn't take much booze or encouragement to get her to let the puppies out of the pen...if you know what I mean...

Those are all names of ship types... I don't quite see how those are easter eggs. Though, I don't know.

Country: United States.
State: Pennsylvania.
County: Warren.
I graduated from high school on June-11-2011. I'm 19 right now. I'm turning 20 in December. I like playing video games, and board games. I like reading Sci-Fi, and World War II novels, and what not.

"There is nothing better in the world than being better at a video game than someone else....oh wait"

They are just common names for different ship classifications.

Corvette: A corvette is a small, maneuverable, lightly armed warship, originally smaller than a frigate (2000+ tons) and larger than a coastal patrol craft or fast attack craft (500 or fewer tons), although many recent designs resemble frigates in size and role. During the Age of Sail, corvettes were smaller than frigates and larger than sloops-of-war, usually with a single gun deck.

Frigate: A frigate is any of several types of warship, the term having been used for ships of various sizes and roles over the last few centuries.

Cruiser: The term "cruiser" or "cruizer" was first commonly used in the 17th century to refer to an independent warship. "Cruiser" meant the purpose or mission of a ship, rather than a category of vessel. However, the term was nonetheless used to mean a smaller, faster warship suitable for such a role. In the 17th century, the ship of the line was generally too large, inflexible, and expensive to be dispatched on long-range missions (for instance, to the Americas), and too strategically important to be put at risk of fouling and foundering by continual patrol duties.

This was what I was going to say. However -- with what I took from it -- Bungie did help give some pointers and help... I may be wrong, though.

Yeah, pretty much this.
Is it just me or did Tesla "invent" weapons in a lot of games?( Online flash games in particular). It seems any electric based weapon was invented by or named after him in them.

Those are merely ship classes, not names, OP.

Those are just basic names for types of battle boats/ships, not a reference to Halo.

This. Those terms aren't uncommon for ships. They are not exclusive to Halo.
