I am dead serious when I say this. Judging from the screenshots this game looks really really damn similar to Pirates multiplayer. How does Bungie expect to make money off of this or whoever made the game?

If I'm the only one that's thinking this is a form of a rip-off then this is just sad.

Bungie has been doing a lot of things backwards lately.

Also I was actually hoping Aerospace would be like a online PC gaming service like Steam and in hopes that Crimson would be a test.

But no, it's for a mobile device, like an I-phone, and I don't own one.

This is really disappointing to be honest.

I was actually hoping that Crimson would be a fun platformer or something, not about pirates.

Also how much is this silly little game going to cost for people? This does not sound like a good idea to me anyway.

Anyway, do you think this game is a rip-off?

If anything I like the logo and background design of this forum for Crimson, but that's about it.

Discuss.

"At the end of the game the king and the pawn go back in the same box"

Line i think should be in firefight: Go blarg yourself!!!

i just looked at a screen shot and it does look like a rip off of steambirds, but i hope this will be more fun, steambirds sucked

Hmmmmm.

Never played steambirds, but I'm sure that's similar too.

When I grow up, I want to be just like goofenhour.

Games can have common gameplay or a common idea, but still be rather original, maybe not completely originally, but not a total ripoff. I mean if that were the case, then Marathon would have been a rip-off of doom, Call of Duty ripped-off Medal of Honor, and Heros of Newerth ripped off DotA.

I would not consider any of the games I compared to be completely the same, and brings different game mechanics to each of it's genres, but not a complete rip off of the game.

Obviously, someone would be lying if they claimed that Crimson: Steam Pirates was the first pirate ship fighting game to ever be created. The same would actually go for Pirates of the Caribbeans. The first game I remember playing that had pirate ship fighting game mechanics would be Corsairs: Conquest at Sea, which definitely came before both games.

But I still agree with you somewhat. Yes this isn't a totally original idea of pirates fighting on ships against other ships, it's been done before. But if you look at it that way, you can consider that every modern military shooter has been just a constant rip off of the original Rainbow Six.

I would not consider Crimson a ripoff, I think it offers game mechanics that have not been done before. And does it in a way that is really fun to play. It definitely has some features in the game that I've never seen done before, such as weapon hotspots, special abilities with certain crew member, boarding ships with a crew members and weighted fights depending on chance, and throwing in some flight combat and submarine combat.

"Fu-c-c-k" this game. It is not a Halo game. So as of today, my respect as a GREAT game developer that Bungie used to be, has forever diminished, as if a black hole has swallowed their existence. NUBS!

Bungie, the great game developer, did not develop this game.

Please read.

Marathon would never qualify as a rip-off of Doom. Terminals, dual wielding weapons, fluids to swim in (or die in), and actual story, better music, cool physics (flying backwards when shooting the Spnkr, grenade jumping), a manual that actually tells you something, much more modability ( i.e shapes files, physics files), interesting map names, terrific lighting, interesting enemies who aren't just ammo-sponges (except for MoAH), powerups, allied ai who assist you actively, real objectives (like protecting the BoBs), enemy weaknesses (robots get hurt much more by the fusion pistol).

Then you have the enormous mythos surrounding it that started with PiD. I mean, what other FPS at the time had a story as convoluted as Infinity's?

Marathon falls into a completely different category than Doom.

EDIT: AND VIDDING.

So it's not Halo it means it sucks eh?

Buddy Reach was a Halo game and it sucked.

Also they didn't make this game, however they did have the money to start Aerospace, I think.

If you buy this game, ( also, if you don't learn how to write a proper sentence...),then you should remove the Arbiter's photo from your profile. You should never play Halo again. And you should protest in front of the Bungie HQ, yelling, " Bungie, A SELL OUT! Halo made you! The people made you! And now you have giving up on us! Fu-c-c-k you!

Trust me, I completely agree with you. In fact you are using my exact point.

That's exactly why I said:

What I trying to say in the point was that Doom and Marathon have the same concept (first person scifi shooters) but both bring something completely new to the table, like all the things you mentioned. I mean, I even stated in the first paragraph:

Games can have common gameplay or a common idea, but still be rather original, maybe not completely originally, but not a total ripoff. I mean if that were the case, then Marathon would have been a rip-off of doom...

Yeah, but I was afraid that someone would read your post and misunderstand it, thinking the two were somehow similar. :P

lol.

Just to stay on topic: I wonder why a game like this would have a public forum?

Wouldn't a private group for the game be enough?

Or why not create a Bungie Aerospace forum instead?

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

So any game that is based in the nineteenth century which includes the word 'pirates' featuring ship-to-ship combat is automatically considered a Pirates of the Carribean clone?

Causing mischief from the shadows

I'd guess that the OP is under the age of 18 to think that Pirates of the Caribbean is the beginning point for the modern image of pirates.

POTC is a good movie but it's not the first, not by a looooooong shot.

And the screenshots look like Pirates multiplayer? What Pirates multiplayer are you talking about?

Pirates of the Caribbean was never a steampunk series, it's more a mythological type thing.

Actually I am 18-years-old.

Oh and Dead Man's Chest on the PSP.

Played that ages ago.
