The covenant did not only attack New Mombassa. AT first yes but later no.
Sevral fled I guess.

Well, Bestarium states that Earth had about 200 million left after the war. However, the Covenant bypassed at least dozen (likely) inner colonies during the war. For example, Minister had about rough 500 million, several other inner colonies averaged about 100-300 million (assumption) which it had adequate defense forces as well. So, after the war, I doubt Humanity is on brink of extinction, more like severely crippled by the 27 year war.

300 Million left actually.

With other inner colony planets such as Forseti with 500 million, Minister with roughly 200 million, and a few others, there is really no way to tell until Glasslands.

KIWIZ RULE THE WORLD!

Its just that nobody knows it yet...

Wasn't it acknowledged that the beasterium made a mistake with that?

"Wake me...when you need me."

I think there are quite a few more people on Earth than that even after the second return of the Covies.

I also heard that they completely wiped out Australia.

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

March 3, 2553

I have never heard of an actual figure, so not sure.

Don't upset Achronos or you'll end up with a dog's head in a jar in your mailbox.

Aw, sucks. Though it would make sense since UNSC has Highcom here in Sydney and the ONI armour testing facility over in Perth. Damn covies.

Different people have diffrent interpretations of that figure.

I take it to mean the population left planet-side. Just as seen in Reach there must have been a massive evacuation plan in place. I beleive they just evac'ed millions while they could.

How many died, that would be a better figure to see. The covenant where ruthless, and methodical. They saw our soft targets as a weakness and slaughtered humanity with the intent to exterminate us.

We also have to remember; they where winning.

This. It also could have referred to just military population.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Yeah, it's stated in the Halo 3 Limited/Legendary Edition Beastiarium(?)

I could be very wrong and would not be too surprised if I was, but I believe that it was just the area around Sydney and the UNSC High Command that was blasted all to hell, the Covenant did not do too much damage to Earth, the very vast majority of their forces were concentrated in East Africa so that's what saw the most casualties and Covenant activity.

So you say? I don't recall where it was stated but wasn't it known that Earth was attacked in various locations such as Cleveland, Cuba, Mexico, Australia, and Antarctica?

"The Battle of Earth inflicted massive infrastructural damage to the planet and Majorly reduced Earth's human population to about 300 million. The UNSC Home Fleet was left in ruins and much of Earth's military might has been destroyed."

I know other places were invaded, that's why I said most of the Covenant forces were in East Africa.
