Halo is dumb... ok.

Halo only speeds up what the flood already do... kill all lifeforms with suitable biomass 2 sustain the flood.

But if the flood's food wasn't killed, they would eat it. wouldn't they? and eventually run out!

Killing off the flood's food to kill the flood is such a waste of the Forerunners time, resourses and tecnology. Why didn't they kill them when the had the chance?

The Forerunners were not preserving the slightest bit of life...

they're only 2 logical reasons i could think of 2 explain Halo's existance.
1. they find a alternate way 2 breed besides paracitic methods. Which is basicly evolution, for all we know the flood could evolve really quickly...
2. develope alternate food habits. Evolution again, but for other species

anyway... thats my veiw on Halo... whats yours?

Well yeah It's a bit odd I have to admit. Maybe it's self-destructive capability exsists to give any life with sufficent biomass to sustain the flood a quick end to the their life rather than be turned into a combat form, which if you've read the books, and if you've looked at a dead flood combat form (especially the human ones), you'll know isn't very pleasent.

yeah is it kinda strange, but maybe thats what halo is for. maybe they were studying the flood so they could devise a weapon aganst them and halo had a fail safe devise in case soemthing went wrong. the forunners knew the flood used other species as food and while they were researching them they had halo as there back up weapon.

i think the flood is just an experiment 2 create a civilization.theforerunners were dying and they wanted 2 preserve themselfs so they started with the flood and ended with us.

if you read the book(you have to to know anything about Halo)the Forerunners built Halo as a sort of zoo so that they could observe the flood.

P.S.that is a very educated guess(im talking about fred s 104)

Hows this for a theory: a single flood got on to MC's ship and bumbed a ride to earth.
using girilla warfare they amase a force from both human and covenant. Becomeing more intelegent they they evolve to appear to be a marine in the new suit. they infultrate the highest of command. and MC has to take control of the situation. But as far as the humans know he turned on them. THe conenant meanwhile have been silent because a couple of flood boarded a drop ship and took control of a Battle Cruiser. A higher knowledge of machanics from there adaptive nature of both races alows them to retrofit the ship to one of mass distruction. MC has to travel to the pyrimides because it is a forefuner complex there and on other sites on earth. activating these facilities he then constructs a weapon from parts found there. he then uses it to board the floods command ship and take out there new commander. an assimulated prophite from the covies!

thats well thought out, but it sounds kinda stupid. i dont think the flood could be smart enough to do that.

  • 09.11.2004 9:56 PM PDT

We’ve watched while the stars burned
Out, and creation played in reverse.
The Universe freezing in half-light.
Once I thought to escape.
To end a master, step out of the
Path of collapse. Escape would make us God.
Yet I cannot help but remember one enigma,
A hybrid, elusive destroyer.
This is the one mystery I have not solved.
The only element unaccounted for.

Well, the Flood are smart enough to repair starships. Other stuff that they do seems kind of stupid though.

I think captain_kill is right. I think that a single flood spore maybe got onto the mc's ship and is transported back to earth. I think this is how the flood come back to earth on Halo 2, but I don't think they would have the brains to pretend they were a marine.

or maybe the chief sneaks on a covenant ship in order to destory it but it takes him to a halo ring, where he dicovers the flood again and somehow they get to the covenant homeworlds

i'm pretty sure the surpris is that the forerunners created the pyramids...
the pyramids piont to halos..... the halos have flood........ and so do the pyramids......... thats why you fight in Africa........ or thats just some
dream i had after reading the books and halo 2 forums ........

I like that idea, but there's more support for it than you mentioned. Look
at the outside of the Control Room. (two betrayals on easy will give you
a quick look) Its design is similar to a stepped pyramid. I'm not entirely
sure that the Forerunner's built the pyramids though. I think it's more
likely that the Humans built them to house Forerunner technology
left behind.

Another idea is that if the Forerunner=Humans theory is right, then
the Forerunner(humans) were stranded and built them to signal
their friends in the stars, but they were unfortunately killed by the
Flood and eventual firing of the Halo, leaving the stranded
Forerunner behind.

Either way, I think Forerunner artifacts have been on Earth since
ancient times, and many of the recent human advancements in
technology are a result of studying these artifacts.

On a slightly different note, A thread in New Mombasa popped
up discussing the Spartan-Forerunner link, and how the Spatans
intuitively knew how to use the panels. Of course it ended in a
flame war as soon as I mentioned anything that might contradict
the Forerunner=Human gospel, but I think you guys are more
mature than that.

My thought was that the Spartan technology is derived from
Forerunner artifacts found on Earth or other planets. I'm not
talking about simply armor and shielding however, I mean their
genetic upgrades, implants. . . whatever. Since the Spartans
are encoded with Forerunner "data," they might have certain
Forerunner aspects, which would explain 343GS' confusion.
It would seem that this idea supports the Forerunner=Human
theory more than anything, but people in N.M. are too eager
to Flame.

Great ideas everybody. I'm glad there's Halo speculation
that doesn't involve flames on b.net.

the reason i said that the forerunners created pyramids is becuase some historians believe that the pyramids were biult by another civliztion because they are so complex..............and the one flood getting on mc's ship already happened.......u kno serg. Johnson the guy in the flood video he survived the flood but one is in him giving him flood strength and he survived it because of a marine desease that efects your nerv cord (its from a plasma grenade) and oo just read first strike i don't want to waste ur time
