I'm a college dropout.

Yes yes, I know we've had a bunch of these. But I'd like to think this one is a little more interesting than the others? Maybe there's a little bit of bias involved, anywho.

This is a question for the Forum Ninjas and Ex-Forum Ninjas. How has your overall experience changed since you chose to accept the title of Forum Ninja? There's some obvious pros and cons involved with taking up the roll; so would you say you're experience has gotten better or worse?

I'm sure it's a little more complicated then "It's better, otherwise I would resign", although I'm sure that was the case for Ex-Forum Ninjas. I'm looking for responses more along the lines of how has your public forum experience changed? Does the ability to clean up the public forum make it worth it? From what I've noticed, many moderators tend to retreat to private groups rather than stay as active on the public forums. And for the Ex-Forum Ninjas, what exactly made you want to resign as a moderator?

Well I guess I better put some pants on.

I feel like I'm gonna break this thing!

Well in my experience, oh wait...

I don't see that as something being necessarily bad. I'd think knowing that all your posts are going to be checked over for fault than others would be more of a problem. However, the perks to being a mod might make it worth it.

I'm not considering it a "bad" thing. Just a change.

I play for fun and armory completion. :)

If I had a dollar for every thread about forum ninjas... I would have a modest sum of cash.

A lot of those PMs are likely people asking/begging to be a forum ninja themselves or for the ninjas to "give" them a new title. Only about half would be legitimate questions/concerns, probably.

If someone was in the position to even be considered, it's likely that they've shown enough dedication for it to be worth it.

After being on both sides of the fence I can say being a normal member is much better than being a moderator. My post count has increased dramatically since I resigned.

Interesting. Now this may sound like a silly question, but have you noticed if people treat moderators differently than other members? Not just giving them more attention, but actually treating them differently.

  • 08.31.2011 3:52 PM PDT

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

So you would say that your post count dropped off once you became mod and returned recently? Would you say that it was a willing change or something brought on by the fact that you now had a task to preform while on the forums? You know, finding that you simply didn't have as much time to post?

It's not respect if you are thinking that, it's called sucking-up.

No there is always time to post. Part of the problem is that as soon as you start posting people will start messaging the hell outta you to take care of one problem or another.

The other thing is that sometimes people will try to find every post that you make and start pointing out how you are above the rules and it isn't fair.

Quite frankly it is much better being a normal member. No crap to deal with. You can just run footloose and fancy free.
