Subject: Is Bungie.net becoming the Bungie community?

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

It was, but I think that changed with the update to the rules. Lumpy pudding, on the other hand, it still against the CoC.

That, or they heard about Foman's mom.

That's the only reason I'm here...
"Jokes" like these are one of the reasons I tend to avoid the main forums like the plague...

Careful. Don't give your detractors any ideas...

OT: I doubt it.

It's not just Bnet that has seen this latest trend of forums creating a weird cyber pseudo-norm for how "cool" users act and respond, with certain behaviors, memes, jokes and topics being "in" and flocking around certain users like the popular girl in high school. Which of course goes ten fold for actual Bungie employees here on Bnet. Why being "socially accepted" on an anonymous internet forum about video games of all things is important to people, has always confused the hell out of me.

On topic, I think we'd all agree Bungie has shown a historic amount of interaction on the forums recently. Makes me wonder if it's part of the new direction they are taking, and if there was some kind of internal memo encouraging community activity.

Honestly, I'd imagine now that Bungie no longer has Halo, the employees don't have to worry about a million PMs asking about various game issues/rewards sent their way every time they post. They don't have to worry about everything they say being taken as game cannon or subtle hints at future events. That freedom might be why they seem to be a bit more chatty now.

  • 08.31.2011 9:13 PM PDT

Bungie's obvious increase activity in the B.Net community forums makes me feel much better about not having the Bungie Weekly Update. I really missed hearing from them regularly. Now when I go into the community forum, and I can usually find something witty and vague from them.

I believe that is the work environment they were looking for. Halo was great, but when you have millions of people literally taking every word you say as fact, I bet that can get a little stressing at times. I still laugh at the beating Halo backwards on Legendary to get the Recon armor....

Only after we ban Bricypoo.

Being part of Bungie.net or not you can still be part of the Bungie community. It is about of people who enjoy Bungie's game. Those people who look at Bungie Workers the same as them. They aren't some super humans who are way above us. They are just a bunch of normal guys like you and me.

I mean if I worked for Bungie I would get tired of coming to the forums being treated like I'm some super amazing person. That is why I stick with being looked upon as a idiot. But like I said they are just a bunch of normal guys like you and me.

Anyways, I'm going to be late for my date with Jessica Alba. So I need to get off...

Skibur, you can't expect Bungie employee to be in this forum all the time.

Just think about it, it would be boring to play Halo games over and over, when it's fun and interesting to try a different game. That same theory applies to the forum. You can't just be on the forum all day, every day. I, for instant, often visit area.autodesk.com forum and sometime in the gaming community where I can interact with another user with different background.

ISU Cyclones!

Even if it is just to "chill" and/or derail threads I like how interactive they've been recently.

Between big media releases I wouldn't be surprised if Urk's temporary new job description was just to derail threads for fun.

But in all seriousness I do appreciate Bungie's attitude recently towards the forums in being direct with the community and making it feel like they like us as much as we like them.

@Geegs30

It saddens me when I see a topic here that links to a thread on NeoGaf where a Bungie employee has posted something somewhat noteworthy. I haven't been here that long, so I don't know if it's just their habit, but in my opinion, big news should always be shared here first.

I will sum up what has been said by employees in the past... Their whole reason for posting so much on NeoGaf and other forums is that they were apart of that community well before this one was created. They would kind of be dicks for just ditching one their original fans...

I'm fine with them still posting on NeoGaf. In no way am I trying to restrict their internet surfing to just Bungie.net. What I don't like to see is a NeoGaf post by a Bungie employee make it over here a couple days after it's news on that forum. Why not post in both places at the same time?

I mean, the original forums have been around since 2001...

Me personally? I think the web-team and some of the other employers of Bungie are up to something which has to do with this website. That could correlate to the reason we are experiencing more yellow septagon's in these forums.

somewhat, I've noticed a more constant stream of yellow septagons. If I was at Bungie I'd post in the forums enough just to screw with people. You know since they could be working on nothing at all and just giving each other piggy back rides around the office

Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

I was expecting a wall of text, you leave me disappointed Skibur.

I have also noticed they are being more active on the forums.

You do know that it is this attitude that stops Bungie.net from becoming that "Community".

Honestly, this elite "clique" of old members is what prevent newer members from being accept as part of the community.
