Generally, people don't go into the games industry for the money. It can be a good living, but on average people in the games industry make a little less than their equivalents elsewhere. Of course, Bungie isn't average. But my base salary would probably be higher if I was usability testing accounting software.
Maybe it's just my ineptitude in the subject of computer programming and the like but what do you mean by "if I was usability testing accounting software". Sorry if it's a typo but if it's an actual thing I have no idea what that means...The important things you have to know about what he was saying are that:
1. Usability testing is needed for all kinds of products and software.
2. Usability testing entertainment software pays significantly less than usability testing business software.
That's true for a lot of jobs that are needed in both gaming and elsewhere, unfortunately! But that's all he was getting at.
