I'm better than you :P

They do okay, not great. Urk's jet is only a Gulfstream IV, and Achronos's house is a mediocre 24,000 square feet.

I was laughing at poor stosh -- he only has two bodyguards. LOL!
Those poor poor people...

I believe the average game developer salary in the US is £130k, Bungie will get more than that because, well, they're Bungie.

I expect their bonuses will be pretty sweet too.

I'm in the industry in the UK, our average is lower than in the States. Generally people in the industry make a good living, but they're not "rich". I work at a mid-size developer making decent games, there are 4 or 5 people out of the 100 who work here who're millionaires, but they've all been in the industry a very long time.

Generally, people don't go into the games industry for the money. It can be a good living, but on average people in the games industry make a little less than their equivalents elsewhere. Of course, Bungie isn't average. But my base salary would probably be higher if I was usability testing accounting software.

Word.

And generally why would anyone (who is not insane) want to test anaccounting software anyway? Sure it's super important for accounting firms but I'd rather take a pay-cut and test something more exciting and creative.

Previously it would have gone to Microsoft, there would probably be some sort of royalties or profit share scheme for Bungie employees, but it wouldn't be life changing amounts.

Now that Bungie are independent I imagine the profit shares will get more generous, but the general programmers and artists on the "shop-floor" will still just be normal guys, there'll be no solid gold houses for regular game devs. :)

Most have million dollar condos in Bellevue, but only senior (and Elder) employees can afford genetically engineered blind wolves to ride to work.

Unfortunately that's the average. Expect to be disappointed.

I know that an entry level student (me) with a BS degree makes around 50-60k. I'm not sure about Bungie. Oh btw Bungie, I'll be seeing you in four years.

Disappointed? I'd be more than happy with 50k a year at Entry level. Considering I'd be living on my own to start out with. 50k is PLENTY of money for a single man. And by the time I actually consider a family, it will be in the upper areas of 60-80k.

  • 09.01.2011 6:20 PM PDT

Awesome, good luck Citizen. (YES, I FINALLY GET TO SAY THAT. THANK YOU, GOD!)

What job are you planning on pursuing?
