I played it and I can confirm that it is, in fact, a game. A game that you can play on the iPad.

Furthermore, I'm not wearing pants.

Why is it being endorsed as one?

Shouldn't Bungie be supporting independent PC or XBLA developers, something like that?

Furthermore, who here has actually played this game? Who here actually has an iPad?

This post made me laugh because I read it on an iPad

Haha same here, I have an iPad and I have played the game and I really enjoy it, it's different and I consider iPad as a form of a gaming platform

This is a Reach account that I created the day they announced his name in a bnet weekly update. Any stats regarding ODST or Halo 3 are irrelevant. Also, Halo CE master race. Halo 1 > other halo games > other games.

Account Status: Silver :(

Agree, iPod and iPhone games are almost destined to be disasters due to the fact that the multitouch screen does not make up for the loss of an actual controller.

If a Grunt has a sticky stuck to his head, and no one is around to see or hear it, does it still run in circles screaming,"Get it off, Get it off !"?

The iPad is a gaming platform. In every definitive sense of those words. Was the computer made for games? No, it was made for computing work. What was the iPad made for? Entertainment. Gaming.

iPad > iPhone/iPod for gaming. The one good game on the iPod is Call of Duty zombies. The other top games are jokes. I honestly feel bad for the people that make iPod games and think that a 4 1/2 star rating means that people actually play it. No. iPad at least has a big enough screen. Not that iPad is great, but it is not the disaster and lie than is the iPod/iPhone.

Hello! I'm a male!

Technically anything that is a computer can be a gaming device. We have iPod games, iPhone games, Windows phone 7, PS1, PS2, PS3, xbox, xbox 360, nintendo, Macintosh devices, computers, ect. can all be used as gaming devices because all a game simply is a code run on the computer device. Obviously a game isn't simple to make but is really just a string of codes used to make it. Oh well as long as a player feels the game is playable then the player will play it. Not our fault you feel an over sized iPod touch isn't a game device.

He's obviously not talking about it technically. I think he just feels like most do, that the controls on the iPad are terribad.

Dude Aerospace is for mobile gaming, and the Ipad is a bigger version of an Ipod Touch, and that rivals the Nintendo DS and PSP, and those are portable gaming devices...

I havent played it yet, nor do I own an iPad. My sister has an iPad though so my plan is to borrow it tomorrow, download and play the game. I'm working all weekend and there's usually a lot of time to kill, I will kill that time with crimson.

It is being treated as a gaming device because the touchscreen interface has potential for unique games to be developed that would not work as well or at all with another interface. Regardless of whether you believe any games have been made yet that live up to this potential, there is no reason developers should not try to reach it.

  • 09.01.2011 2:23 PM PDT

I really wish it were for the iPod touch as well. I think there is a larger player base for the iPod Touch/iPhone. I'm not agains the idea of it on the iPad though.

The name's Ian, Game Designer at Whisper Game Studios, very off-and-on Bungie.net visitor and avid Bungie fan overall. Message me if you wish.

I'm gonna take a leap of faith here and totally agree with the OP right now. Jonse definitely has a point. The iPad is NOT a gaming platform. It's an entertainment platform. We don't call a cell phone a gaming platform even though games are sold on cell phones regularly. I'm not speaking "SMARTphones" I'm speaking literal cell phones. I bought the Star Wars Episode III game promoted by Cingular's network for a Sony phone back in '07. I do not consider that a purchase for a gaming platform, I consider those games as promo material.

Having said that...

I do believe that the iPad does have platform like games. As in games that seem like they belong on a true platform such as an iPod Touch (which is actually promoted by Apple as a mobile multimedia device for gaming as well as hardware backing up this marketing statement) PSP or 3DS (now that I think about, Crimson on 3DS would be AWESOME). These games being: Infinity Blade, Modern Combat (which actually was turned into a downloadable PC, PSN and XBLA game) and now Crimson. These few games begin to show that the iPad has a gaming platform like potential as well as platform like feel, although the system and hardware itself ARE NOT a gaming platform in it's own right. If there were more games made to show the iPad off as a gaming platform and if there was substantial hardware to show that the iPad is deserving of such a title, then I am willing to accept it as such.

Quite honestly I say it's all about the direction a product is aimed toward. You don't see an iPad being marketed mainly form it's gaming potential, but you see multimedia platforms such as Xbox, PS3, Wii and yes even iPod Touch (even though that ad does promote the new camera).

If a piece of hardware is promoted for it's gaming capacity and capability and has the software to accompany it in larger numbers than other types of applications than I'm willing to call it a gaming platform, otherwise, nty.

he be trolling so hard even bungie bit on his lure....

wait did I just mix trolls with fishing? not sure where that was supposed to go.

anyhow, this is just a stupid conversation and the OP's change-of-subject to avoid the fact that ANYTHING you can play a game on is a platform.

btw OP when the -blam!- is it possible to play a game on a watch?

He's not wearing pants? Well you can easily be at home, play Crimson and not wear any pants. Anyone been outside lately? Its Summer and its hot! Not having pants indoors while playing solo just makes sense temperature wise. Now that that's established. I have an iPad, I have downloaded it and it is fun. The music is adventurous (marty did it...no?) and I'm starting to get the hang of it. I wasn't aware that the less turns it takes to accomplish the goal the more points I earn until I finished a round, so that was good to know. We'll see where it goes from here. Bungie Aerospace for the WIN!!!

While it might not be anything like a fully realized gaming platform, it works for Crimson.
It's a fun game, and thus a good game.

I have an iPad, and I play Crimson.

Ya I totally accidentally linked that random gamertag. I don't know what it is. But my real gamertag is curb st0mpd if you wanna check out my stats.

The iPad is actually a more successful gaming platform than handhelds devoted to gaming, like the PSP. And why would Bungie be supporting their competitors?

I personally believe that both Bungie Aerospace and Crimson are both fantastic.

I don't own an iPad, but I do own an iPod and an Android, and I play casual games far more on those devices than I do on my DS or on xbox arcade. If the device can handle playing games and has a reasonably sized collection of games, I'd consider it a gaming platform.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

Where's the Android version? I feel like a 90's Apple user Bungie.

You cannot reason a man out of a position he has not reasoned him self into.

It is a platform that can play games.

It is a gaming platform.
