I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

I'm guessing to Micro$oft, Bungie, Bungie Foundation, Future Games, Snacks, Sage's Beard-Spray, etc.

I'd assume it went towards offsetting losses from the Zune in MS's Entertainment and Devices division.

@Geegs30

100% to the employees, so they can splurge.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

The information isn't public as far as I know.

I'm sure the division of ongoing profits is subject to a series of confidential agreements between the various entities who come together to sell the game (developer, manufacturer(s), publisher, retailers, and so on). But I doubt the details will ever be made public; these agreements often reflect trade secrets and business judgments that are considered proprietary and thus confidential.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

To building the slingshot.

I think Sage's beard is the sling, but it is still growing and not prepared to launch people yet.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

I would assume profits from Halo would got to (in no real order):

MS
Bungie
Employee Paychecks
New Equipment
Software Development
Insurance (If privately insured)
Ad spots
General savings account
And more

[Announcement Trailer] Halo: Forerunner

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

This is the most oddly worded topic I've ever seen.

Whoo.

It's probably something about 30% to the retailers, 40% to the publisher and 30% to the developer, but until the amount of money that was spent on the development gets paid back to the publisher the developer doesn't start getting the royalties.

(I saw something along the lines of those figures on a document about the development process.)

100% to the employees, so they can splurge.
Example

As soon as I saw urk's reply, I kind of realized that Microsoft were really, really suffocating Bungie employees. Surprised I haven't seen them with donation adverts to support their families...

The Halo series was my first and favorite FPS series.
I enjoy most games throughout all systems despite what some people say.

Oh, and on the forums, I tell it like it is, like it or not.

Towards future games. And the employees, they kinda need money to.

I can't tell if you're being serious...
They're not poor beggars and make enough to support themselves. If they didn't, they'd probably find better jobs.

This is because profits are going into a plan for world domination.

  • 10.21.2011 5:58 PM PDT

One does not simply stop playing Minecraft! Or Fallout!

A majority of profits made from the sales of Halo products made before the exchange have and will go to Bungie, and the rest would go to whoever produced the item(s) and, of course, taxes. That's my best guess.
